CompTIA Network+: Exam N10-007

Lots of errors in book and poorly written overall.
I found far too many errors within the book, even on basic items such as Exam Objectives, reality vs. book which I've left pictures for. Another is an attempt to define MTBF; which is meant time between failures which is the predicted elapsed time between inherent failures of a mechanical or electronic system, during normal system operation. MTBF was described as MTTR which was already outlined right before MTBF. There are also errors in the chapter review questions and others scattered throughout the book. This book seems to have been botched without a care in the world. I would refrain from purchasing this expensive book since there are many much better and more accurate books to choose from.

Great book, bad typos
The book is a good companion to reenforce video training. I do wish the material was laid out to follow the exam objectives in order but that’s ok, I would skip the subnetting chapter all together, use YouTube. The additional resources that come with the book are awesome. Practice test and flash cards. Now to the bad. “TYPOS” on some chapters it was really hard to get into a groove due to trying to figure out what was trying to be said. So 3 stars

This book is honestly just bad
Just go with Mike Meyers All In One series. That's what I did for the CompTIA A+ and that book was decent. Everything I needed to get my A+. For what ever reason I decided to go with this one for the Network+. I'm about halfway through and so far I'm very disappointed. Topics are very poorly explained. Its very hard to follow along. Many of the topics Lammle goes over aren't even on the list of objectives for the exam. I've been getting the sense throughout the book that Lammle is just trying to show off how much he knows. He goes way too deep into detail without thoroughly explaining the details, just a passing by to say "yep, I know all of this stuff". Its clear very little effort was put into this book. For example, the tables in chapter 4's written exam was very clearly copy and pasted with out considering the context of the question (if you have the book you know what I'm talking about). Just go with Mike Meyers.

DOES NOT COME WITH EBOOK
If you bought this book because you wanted to get the ebooks, well you are better off just buying the actual eBook. The contents are typical and what you'd expect for a COMPTIA exam study guide. Highly disappointed at how counter-intuitive the instructions are for claiming the "digital items" that are "included" in this book. This book pissed me to no ends with how garbage their instructions are on claiming digital content.

Complete study guide.
This is probably the most comprehensive CompTIA Network + study guide on the market.

Great guide to get before taking exam
I love this guide, because it is very detailed on every aspect of networking and troubleshooting process. It is one of my favourite guides whenever I need to refence something as well. And most importantly, it help me pass my netplus exam on my first try. Great work by author.

Comprehensive Study Guide
This is a very comprehensive study guide to help you achieve the CompTIA Network+ accreditation for iT Professionals. This is based on the latest N10-007 exam which was introduced in March 2018 so it should be current for a while yet. It is an entry-level exam but is quite a broad accreditation that covers; network design and implementation, using switches and routers to segment networks, resilience and virtual networks, security, standards, and protocols as well as troubleshooting. The author Todd Lammle is well known for his Cisco study guides and covers these areas well without getting too dry with plenty of practical examples and illustrations to break it up. It also includes one year's access to includes access to Sybex's interactive online study tools and online learning environment which includes; six custom practice exams, electronic flashcards, a searchable glossary and an eBook version of this book in multiple file formats.Overall this is an excellent book for those moving into iT and provides the basis for further accreditations and specialisms while also explaining the basics of network design.

Worth upgrading to this one for the extras
This is my review of the standard Study Guide "There is a lot of ground to be covered in this book, and a lot of it has not changed too dramatically from previous editions, but that makes sense. There is certainly technical jargon, but no more than you would expect any reader that would embark on this book to grasp quite easily. Paired with the online materials, it provides good overview and information. The organisation is not quite as good as in some of the other CompTIA books I've reviewed and it could do with either defining certain terms early or maybe provide a glossary at the back or easily accessible online.Other than that, I think it will be a good helper for the exam"And the above still stands for this guide, but there are even more extras, questions and better aids with this one and I would recommend spending the bit extra for assistance before the exam

If you're going to take the exam...
...this is the study guide. If you want to be an IT professional with a recognised and worthwhile accreditation, then you owe it to yourself to invest in the official guide. Even if you don't want that accreditation, but would like to understand throughly what going on then once again, this is your best hope. OK, it's not as cheap as the 'high street' guides, and you should make sure that you have the current edition. But if you want to be a pro, then this is the place to start.
