Bond LH015 Mini D Handle Shovel

I've been buying Bond garden tools for years since Benny's in Mass., and they are cheap yet quality tools. They won't survive a job site but great for home use. I melted once a little near a firepit and it still lasted another couple of years. Anyway enough about that, this tiny shovel is up there on greatest tools of all time and I've never seen another like it. It is a full functional version, in miniature, of Bond's normal short grip-handle garden spade. It's perfect for kids, as a regular size (regular for a kid) digging spade. It's perfect for adults as a mini-scale short grip-handle spade. It's comparable in size to a typical folding camp shovel, but obviously much more durable and fit for actual digging.

Pretty good shovel when starting out metal detecting. Its not that heavy and still digs a good plug.

I purchased this shovel to keep in my Jeep Wrangler to help people stuck in the snow and for a general use camp shovel. It is the perfect size for this purpose. It is small, but very strong and well made. I attached a pic of the shovel next to a couple of size 12 flip-flops to give a sense of the size. It isn't really big enough for any major jobs, but is perfect for a portable shovel or for small gardening jobs. I'm attaching this to the inside tailgate of my Jeep with a JK Jeep Fold Down Molle Tailgate Panel and Original Quick Fist Clamp . This should give a nice stable mounting platform and provide a cooking surface for camping trips. I will update this review with pictures after the panel arrives. Some people had mentioned difficulty with the sticker. I tried to pull it off, but it wasn't coming off easily so I hit it with a heat gun and it came off clean. I'm sure a hairdryer would work as well.

The Bond Mini D-handle shovel is perfect for infrequent, light-duty work. If you were ever in the military, think back to "boot camp." Remember your official "entrenching tool"? This is very similar, except it doesn't fold and collapse. :) I use this Bond shovel for "working" the compost on a daily basis. It's strong and sturdy, and it never goes indoors. This is the 2nd one of these I've purchased, and I'm very satisfied with them. Again, both of these STAY outside, in the elements, in the compost pile. They are *not* treated with care and respect - and they're holding up and serving my needs beautifully. :) I cannot imagine trying to do any serious work with this mini shovel, i.e., trying to dig a trench, plant shrubs, etc., would be a serious mistake unless you're about 4 feet in height or shorter! (The handle is very, very short in length.) But if you need something to keep in your truck or your car to remove sand or mud, or anything similar, I'd highly recommend one of these shovels - without reservation! As stated elsewhere in another review, this shovel is *not* telescopic. Neither Amazon nor the manufacturer claims that it is, so this certainly wasn't a surprise to me! The handle is comfortable, the blade is very good and solid, and it's hard to beat a 5-year guarantee, right? You won't be disappointed - go ahead and order one or two! :)

This seems to be the most common "off-road" shovel people buy, but that's not a problem at all. The shovel itself is sturdy, feels good in the hand, and is small enough to mount to the inside of a pickup bed. I like how when using the Bond shovel, it feels more stable and not "janky" like some more portable, folding-type shovels I've tried before. Maybe some tools aren't meant to be folded for best results - and I feel like this shovel works great because it doesn't have any fancy gimmicks.

Appears to be well made. Perfect small size for when you need a small shovel for a small gardening job.

I'm giving this product 5 stars due to the outstanding customer service I received when I received he shovel. In addition, it IS a very well made tool and if you're looking for a SMALL shovel, I'd highly recommend this one. It would also serve as a terrific shovel if your daughter or son wanted to 'work' outside with you or start their own little garden - Hint: getting them involved in gardening early in life can lead to a more enriched life. This all said, if you're looking for a sturdy short shafted shovel with a wide blade, you might find the blade a bit under-sized. Having worked in retail and merchandising, I appreciate the importance of providing accurate product descriptions in print and on-line posts. The information provided in the blade measurement description of the Bond LH015 Mini D HANDLE HOVEL includes the convex/concave portion of the blade versus a measurement straight across the blade. This provides the impression of a wider blade. Generally, customers will measure across the blade and not include the additional inches the curved portion would provide. As a result, when the shovel arrives, they're disappointed to find a smaller bladed shovel than anticipated. Since this particular shovel is listed as being the widest of the shovels offered on the site at this time, adds to the customer frustration. Measurement differences aside, this is a terrific LITTLE shovel for narrow spaces or kids. Additionally, the follow up experience I had with Amazon Customer Service was - as it always is - Best In Class.

The size of this item is very small and does not meet work need environment

Strong built and perfect size the small job, storage tidy in place. The handle grip pattern is a plus for gripping securely.

Very handy, useful and value for money product

Great quality. I use it weekly in environmental restoration projects so it gets consistent use and abuse. After multiple years of use, it has held up exceptionally well. Very happy.

I bought this shovel for my 5 yr old grandson because he loves to garden and all the kiddie shovels are either plastic and can’t really work in a garden or their thin metal bend when working in the garden. This shovel is perfect for him and he’s so happy to be able to dig plants and me in the garden. My husband now wants a one for himself
