Functionally, this is the best waiter's friend type corkscrew I've tried.This is an addition to the original review. I bought two more of these corkscrews, and one has suffered the same failure that a lot of other examples appear to have had - the corkscrew element became detached in normal use. Given the percentage of them that appear to be affected, I can no longer recommend buying this item. If you're lucky to get one that doesn't fall apart, then it's a great buy, but as about a third of them go wrong and there are many alternatives that work pretty much as well and are more durable, I've revised my 4 star rating down to 1 star.There are two things wrong with it:1. The foil cutter isn't very good - a serrated blade would make it easier to use.2. The plastic cladding makes it look bulky and less aesthetically pleasing than many other waiter's friends. This could be solved by removing most of the plastic and either redesigning the metal structure to compensate, or just cladding the handle end to make the whole thing more slimline.The bottle opener could be easier to use too, but the other two issues are higher priority.But when it comes to opening wine bottles, I don't think there's anything of its type that works better.
