Sturdy glass
It's thick glass and so far has helped with stopping the milk boil over!

Great alert... I add a tbsp water first to wet bottom of pan & also wet the glass disc under the tap - picked this idea up from others and it seems to stop milk and disc from sticking and then burning. I make yogurt by first not quite boiling milk (91-93C) - so no more burnt pans wasted burnt milk or boiling over. Medium heat , stir the disc round a bit with whisk every so often. Then rapid cool by putting pan in basin of cold water. Could be my imagination but boiling milk seems quicker with the glass disc. My mother had one of these - good to find they’re still around.

Stops milk boiling over.
Excellent product for stopping your milk from boiling over. We make our own yogurt regularly, so we need to raise the temperature of the milk to 85 degrees. This item stops the milk boiling over.
