Today I'm reviewing Smackdown vs RAW 2010, which I've played on both the PS3 and the PS2. Well, it says 2010, but really it's an ode to the WWE of late 2008 and early 2009: Big Show and his knockout punches, Edge being the "ultimate opportunist," John Cena still getting booed by half the fans in attendance, and Michelle McCool with that cool hairstyle she only had for a few weeks. Everything you may remember from that era is here in the greatest balance of hard-hitting gameplay, presentation, and customization any WWE game has achieved. Creating a wrestler with his (or her) own 3D clothes, music, and entrance movies is just the beginning. In addition to the greatest library of moves I've ever seen, you can complete his arsenal with Create-a-Finisher and have him feud with the Undertaker for the heart of Trish Stratus in Create-a-Storyline. You're limited only by your own imagination and the admittedly generic scenes you have to play with. As in many WWE games, the graphics are excellent. The animations and faces of the wrestlers appear even more lifelike than in much of the 2K series. Randy Orton, Matt Hardy, and Beth Phoenix in particular have never looked better, while Shawn Michaels... well, Shawn Michaels hasn't looked right in ANY game I've played, so I'll give them a pass on that one. This was arguably the height of the SVR series before they started screwing up the controls and making the in-ring action as awkward as a McMahon family reunion, and for the most part it has aged well. I'd give it four and a half stars if Amazon let me, for the few flaws mentioned below. SVR 2010 PROS * Huge creation suite offers indefinite replayability * Best controls in the series overall * Good variety in Create-A-Move Set * Decent AI, if a little too easy * Excellent soundtrack & option to import your own entrance music * Tag Team, Rumble, Cage & Extreme Rules matches are amazing SVR 2010 CONS * Some timing glitches * Only a few WWE Legends * Women can't compete in certain match types, including Royal Rumble * Audio issues and occasional freezing in Create-A-Storyline * Ladder & Elimination Chamber matches still a choppy mess
