Madeira Tour & Trail Super-Durable Map

I bought the Super-Durable Waterproof map because I have had them before and they stand up really well to a bit of rough handling. I Love these DWGwalking maps they are detailed, accurate and packed full of info to help you plan walks. The companies website also supplies GPS waymarks for many walks (described in related books) which can help you get the most out of the walks. I have been using Discovery Walking Guides (DWG) maps and guides since 2002, they are simply the best. The Madeira Tour & Trail map is made of near indestructible paper, and is kept up to date with the changing road networks of Madeira. This is necessary as Madeira’s roads have been rapidly developing due to European Union investment in new road tunnels. Discovery Walking Guides also publish two excellent walking guides to Madeira that give route summaries, ratings for effort and time, and full descriptions of how to get to the start, and back from the end of the non-circular routes. Volume 1 details Leisure trails and Volume 2 Challenging & High Altitude Trails. To supplement these two volumes, DWG provide free GPS Downloads in GPX format for the routes in both volumes. If that wasn’t enough, DWG also mark other guide books’ walking routes (Rother & Landscapes) on the Madeira Tour & Trail map.

This seemed to be the best of a few maps we looked at. Not perfect, but about as good a detail as you can get for Madeira. Shows all the PR walks plus some extras. Good durable material.

Just received super durable map of Madeira. Very impressed with clarity and detail. Opposite sides show each end of island with massive overlap in central area with Funchal comfortably included in both, great idea and makes it very unlikely that any day walk would cross over the sides. It appears to show all paths, trails and Levadas and the dwg trails are just highlighted. So should be good for walks from other sources or just exploring.

Just know this map will be invaluable as it has been bought to replace the older version which has given us at least 4 years service. With multiple ( in excess of10) trips to Madeira, used to navigate the roads (tom tom is usless!) and used with the 2 excellent walking books. Do not buy any other map. The old one has been out in all weather's and is still usable having never used a map case. Just wish there were more of these maps in the series.

The fact that this map can withstand rain is brilliant (not that there is much rain in Madeira! The map is great and easy to use. Definitely recommend it

Super durable (as it "says on the tin") and excellently detailed map. Have used Discovery Walking guides and maps for a long time now and their quality is superbly reliable. Keen to put the map (and guides) to use on our first trip to Madeira in a few weeks time. Would recommend these products

Seems pretty robust but will need to await a few visits for full testing. I also have version for La Gomera which has survived several trips.

Une carte de Madère à l’échelle 1:40000, imprimée recto/verso : moitié ouest de l’ile en recto et moitié est en verso (avec un grand chevauchement entre les deux). Le matériau est très résistant, qui ne craint pas l’humidité. L’auteur offre en plus les tracés numériques pour les appareils de navigation digitaux.

Ich war etwas skeptisch als die Karte zu mir nach Hause kam. Sie ist allerding gut detailliert und die Handhabung ist extrem gut. Sie verknittert nicht auch wenn man sie so faltet wie man sie gerade braucht. Sehr naß wurde sie bei mir nicht. Nur feucht, aber das hat sie unbeschadet überstanden. Solch eine Karte würde ich mir jederzeit für andere Gebiete kaufen. Sehr zu empfehlen!
