Not all stropping straps are created equal. First off, this a good one. It comes with six diamond polishing compounds, which is good, but you have to know when to use them and how to use them. Without some experience you run the risk of ruining a good knife, quickly. Plus, when you apply the grit, for the first time, it essentially prohibits you from applying a different grit unless you thoroughly clean the first grit off completely. Unless you know what you are doing, mixing grits will not only ruin the knife, but the leather itself. If you like this leather strop, like the idea of having different grits, I suggest you do some 'homework' and see how to use it correctly. If you do that, you will most likely find this a go-to knife accessory that will fit perfectly in your knife sharpening arsenal. Size, shape, and construction are well worth the purchase. Knife sharpening is an art form. And like any art form you need different tools to get a good result. A leather strop is a necessity, but for most beginners, this will carry you into the amateur level and into a advanced level with no problems.

Over 500 knives. Best paddle strop I've ever seen, the diamond paste is top notch, the leather is just right in thickness, not too thin, not so cushy that it rounds the edge. Take your time applying the paste, it REALLY goes a very long way. I've bought twice, much happier now that I applied the paste more evenly, although it did a great job when I just haphazardly slopped some on the first one. This is top notch!

As good as it gets. This strop has everything you need. Works great, I'm able to maintain my blades. Only thing you'd have to do is score the smooth side of the leather a bit to make the compound stick to it.

Does the job fairly well

The wood is pine on mine. Very lightweight if you want to put it in a pack. It’s two “scrap” pieces joined together for a nice base. Craftsmanship is on point. Works good for this job, great use of extra wood In my opinion. Course and very fine grained leather. Comes as advertised with the diamond compound.

Got my knives razor sharp. Best way to finish sharpen any knife. Would buy again.
