Life saver! Great for children!!
Whilst the fun of the near miss is lost with these it does make life a lot easier when it comes to getting a crab from sea bed to bucket! The string is very long so cut it and tied to save it slipping in i suggest tying it to a piece of wood and wrapping it round something so you can concentre on making sure they don’t fall in rather that catching a crab for them or loosing your line or falling in yourself reaching down with a net!Literally a life saver!!!!!!!!!

Caught crabs fine. Cruelty free.
Worked perfectly well and we caught crabs...Just be aware these nets don't have a little bag within the net itself (to put 'bait' in), it has a little cross over mechanical spring inside the net (at the bottom) where the bait goes. Basically you tuck it under the spring so it's held in place. I think actually catching crabs is more about the type of bait you use and your technic (how and where you drop your net). Smoked bacon chunks and dropping the net in slowly against the side of the quay worked best for us. Our boy caught enought crabs to make him happy. I was happy too, especially as no crabs were injured and safely returned to the sea (probably a bit grumpy but unharmed). Only thing I would say is the metal spring might come apart in future as the little rods are spring loaded and not welded on. I only noticed this when cleaning the net to store away. But you do get 2 nets and price was so much cheaper than buying at seaside.Positives: Net nice and big and well made. Very long, bright orange cord to hold into when lowering net into water. Loses points for the spring loaded bait catch, which I feel may come apart if not careful.Do be mindful that the end of the (very long) cord isn't attached to a "handle". Luckily we had an old one at home which we wrapped the cord around. From a safety factor it made it easier to hold onto the cord, less chance of dropping the cord into the water or it getting tangled. You could use a piece of wood, or similar, as someone mentioned in a review. Having a "handle" helps greatly in storing the set.ADVICE: After use do clean any debris off the net and cord and rinse with clean water asap after use. Then when home/before storing I strongly recommend soaking the net and cord overnight in a large bucket (or similar) of water, then hang and dry thoroughly before storing. No smell and will give nets a longer life... Have fun! 8/10 and yes, I would recommend these nets.

Amazing fun
These were great fun! Caught a crab easy peasy! Recommend bacon in the bottom as bait!

Bit of fun for the kids
Got a pair for the kids to use on recent coastal holiday. 7 or 8 buckets full of crabs later and kids all happy with them (I put it down to the excellent bait choice :) )they have the usual plate/spring attachment for holding bait, but no bait bags/nets which can make things easier. The "ropes/strings" were fine for use off a harbour wall about 8ft off the water and similar depth in the water with plenty to spare so I would guess the 11m claim is correct. There is no storage device to wrap the ropes around when packing up, and with a bit of a breeze we did have problems with tangles on the free ends.on one of the nets the spring pulled out on the second use, but was easily repaired. If you dont want stinky nets in the back of the car after use think about suitable bag to put them in or give them ample time to dry.

If crabs are there these will catch them.
All good if crabs are there.and quality of bait used

Total failure
Do not buy this. The flaw is the design of the bait holder. It’s a spring which comes off when thrown into the water and the bait and spring are then lost rendering it useless. Very upset children on the first use!!
