Fisher-Price Baby's First Blocks, Ages 6+ Months

I bought these blocks for my daughter’s first Christmas when she was about 6 months old. She’s almost 2 years old now, and they are still firmly in her Top 5 favorite toys, which says a lot considering how many toys have come and gone over the past year and a half. At 6 months old, she enjoyed holding the blocks, exploring the different shapes, and dumping them out of the bucket. As she’s gotten older, she’s started using them for shape matching, sorting, stacking, and imaginative play. It’s been fun to see how the toy has grown with her developmental stages instead of being something she quickly outgrew. The blocks are lightweight, durable, and easy for little hands to grasp. They’ve been dropped, thrown, stepped on, and chewed on over the months, and they’ve held up remarkably well. The storage bucket is also a huge plus because cleanup is quick and all the pieces stay together. I also love the Navy Fawn color scheme. It’s a more modern, neutral look than the bright primary-colored version I remember growing up with, while still being engaging for babies and toddlers. As a parent, one of my favorite things is getting lasting value from a toy, and this has absolutely delivered. Nearly 18 months later, my daughter still reaches for these regularly. If you’re looking for a classic developmental toy that will stay relevant well beyond babyhood, this one is worth every penny.

A classic toy that really lives up to the reputation. The shapes are easy for little hands to grasp, and the colors are vibrant and appealing. I really appreciate how the lid stays on securely during play but is still easy for me to open. It’s been excellent for my child’s fine motor skill development. It is easy to bring on car rides and the plastic makes it easy to clean.

We started using this with our 6-month-old during tummy time and sitting practice, and it’s been one of those toys that grows with him. Right now, he mostly enjoys grabbing the blocks, banging them together, and trying to get them into his mouth. **A classic for a reason — already on my second one!** I've now bought these Fisher-Price First Blocks *twice* — once for my older child and again for my baby — and they never disappoint! 🙌 The colorful shapes are perfect for little hands, and I love how they all fit neatly back into the bucket for easy clean-up. My baby is absolutely obsessed with dropping the blocks in and dumping them back out, over and over again! 😄 The different shapes and colors are great for early learning, and the sturdy build means they hold up really well through lots of play. It is perfect for building fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as little ones grasp, dump, and sort the ten colorful shapes. It’s a fantastic, safe introduction to learning shapes and colors, and the chunky design is great for small hands. The only drawback is that the pieces get scattered everywhere (a hazard for parents stepping on them!), and the lid does not stay on securely. If the bucket tips over, the lid pops off, leading to lost blocks. Despite this, the engagement level is high, and it grows with your child’s skills. A reliable, affordable toy, just prepare to hunt for shapes under the sofa!

As a parent of a 12-month-old, safety is the number one priority, and these blocks are the perfect size—large and chunky enough that they pose absolutely zero choking hazards. Design & Durability: The blocks are bright, durable, and excellent for early motor skill development. While my little one has managed to lose most of the individual pieces around the house, the toy still gets daily use. The Verdict: He absolutely loves the basket itself! He carries it around, dumps things into it, and uses it as a standalone container. The shape-sorting lid is great for coordination, but the bucket alone makes it a winner.
