very nice way to use your "old/replaced" ssd
Great product that looks and works exactly as advertised. Nice aluminum case and it comes with a 9 1/2 inch USB C to USB 3.0 connector. Would have been nice to have a USB C to USB C included - but I have those lying around, so no issues.I replaced a 250GB M.2 SATA III NVMe drive with a 1TB PCIe and wanted something that would allow me to use the SATA drive after taking out of laptop. This worked great - took out 2 end screws, slid out interface, popped in the old M.2 SATA SSD, slid interface back into case, replace 2 screws and you are ready to go - took about 5 minutes - last pic above.I transferred some files and did the CrystalDisk tests and did not notice it becoming warm at all. The 1st attached CrystalDisk score shows the speeds using USB 3, 2nd score is using my USB C to USB C and last score is speeds while drive was in laptop. As you can see speeds are pretty fast compared to internal speed.Just make sure what type of M.2 "key" you have . 4th pic shows the 2 type of keys - if you have both its probably using a SATA connection and limited to around 540 mbps. If only has M key then its using PCIe connector and speeds will be much faater than SATA. On the computer make sure the interface/connector does NOT have a notch for the B key and if it doesnt you should be able to use an SSD with M (PCIe) key.

Well Made and Works Great
I have to correct a bad review. I ordered one of these and posted that the performance was bad. That was a mistake on my part as I used a USB C cable that was not rated for the speeds this enclosure can produce.Everything that comes in the box is great and for the price, you can't beat it. The unit is well made and very sleek with a nice machined finish. It's small and light. Exactly what I was looking for as I'm an IT professional and I carry a enough around in my laptop bag already.I tested performance with the supplied cable and a proper USB-C/USB-C cable on my 2018 MacBook Pro with Black Magic Disk Speed Test. The drives I used were a Samsung EVO 850, and Western Digital Green M.2 SSD. The Samsung drive is faster and achieved speeds around 430 MB reading and writing. It's a great deal and a nice enclosure. When the seller read my negative review they reached out to me and worked with me to solve my problem. Excellent customer service is always a perk. If I'm in the market for something and see this seller again, I'm going to choose them!

Nice form factor; reasonably solid
I've got a couple of these, loaded with WD Blue 3D NAND 1Tb M.2 drives. They're reasonably fast (385Mb/s write, 410Mb/s read) and the power draw is low enough that you can use one of them on a USB-C hub along with an iPhone or iPad that you're transferring media to.The size is pretty small, making them easy to tuck in a bag or behind a MacBook on an airplane tray table. They do get pretty warm when transferring large amounts of data (100's of Gb), but the aluminum housing helps them cool down very quickly. When you assemble, though, watch out for the screw that hold on the end caps. They're easy to strip if you aren't careful. Make sure they're seated properly before you try to screw them tight, and don't overtighten.

Adapter board does not fit into case with M.2 SSD attached. Edited to correct original rating.
I wanted to use this to clone my internal M.2 SSD to a larger one. The adapter board was difficult to remove from the case. When I installed the new M.2 SSD to the board that came in the case it would not go in. I stopped before it got halfway in because I was concerned about damage to the SSD chips. I took the SSD off the board and watched as I tried to install the adapter again. The socket for the M.2 SSD hit the top of the case going back in. I used the cable and adapter board separate from the case to do the cloning. This is an edit after using my brain. The adapter and M.2 SSD fit just fine. I found out that first M.2 I put in was bowed for some reason. I did not any problem installing on the adapter but I could see an upward bow. When putting every away, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I recommend this item for purchase and change my rating to five stars.

Great Product
Make sure your m.2 drive has b and m keys this drive does not support nvme that uses only the m key if you try to install a nvme drive that uses m key you are gonna pop this thing and smell burning and ruin your expensive drive can tell you from friends that made the mistake by not doing research if your trying to recover data from a drive that used to have windows make sure the master boot record is not corrupt or damage due to power surges or power cuts or preshutdowns or restarts during a windows isntallation update or shutdown the pc before the shutdown process is complete or before and after a restart process is complete you will destroy your drives in your computer if you do this stuff other than these warnings and guides this is an amazing product if you need help from support ask a question in the amazon question section cause the support site on the box does not exist.

makes m.2 sata easy to clone with Macrium software
This you can just put in a sata m.2 and clone your 128gb or 256gb in my case to a 500gb or larger . it took 18 minutes total . I had best buy try to do this and they had my brand new laptop for 7 days and could not do it . it was missing drivers , the back lit keys didn't work and a lot morethis will work as an external drive but why bother when you can just clone your oem software and but in a samsung 860 evo which is about 15% faster than the stock micron m.2 ssd read and write . I also swapped the oem 2tb spinning 5400 drive for a 2.5" 860 evo 500 so now i have 1tb ssd vs 190 gb usable storage ssd and 1.8 tb of 5400 spinning drives which should be outlawed by now !!! lol
