Takes a beating!
Tough little dude and worth the investment if I may say so. This little guy took a beating and kept on kicking! I highy recommend, but there are a few drawbacks.- the spring mechanism doesn't allow the cover flap to flip to the back, and only opens flat with the paper side. No problem for a right handed person, but lefties like me might find it slightly difficult to maneuver-the little pen that comes with it is what keeps the cover closed. A lot of people have bad reviews because they lost their pen and now their pad won't stay closed. (The pen is low quality anyway) The simple solution I found was to use a hair tie/rubber band. Easy fix.- because it's pocket sized, it's kinda hard to write on the small pages. This little guy is best for short reminders as opposed to writing out full fledged ideas. These drawbacks are not enough to warrant passing on this thing. It's got a dope cover art (the paint has held up, despite rough usage), can take a beating, and is perfect for daily carry. It's small enough to carry in your front or back pocket without really even feeling it there.Buy it. Do it. You won't regret it!

Very nice
Very nice! Gave to my son for his car and he loves it! So often you need to write something down when you’re in your car! Great value and definitely gift of all

Replaced one I had that lasted years.
The pen dies quickly but I take out the notepad and use mine for a quick, sturdy wallet to carry bills and cards while mostly outdoors.

Pen stopped working
I work on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. This contraption is a game changer for me. Made making notes and tracking progress of facets of my job much easier. The pen stopped working about 3 weeks in so I had to bend the holder out to fit another pen.

Can't live without it.
This is a great notebook to have. I use it daily. It's great for grocery lists, if you need to make a quick note. The pen that comes with it is extremely handy.

A good compact notepad for the price
I bought one of these in black; the seller was out of stock, so offered me two brown ones for the same price. I accepted, and my seven year old so coveted the little pad on sight that I gave one to him. I would buy this item again, and also recommend that anyone seeking a small notepad also consider:1. Buying small marble notepads (two for a buck as of this writing at a local big box store) in conjunction with a separately carried small pen, perhaps attached to a keychain2. PicoPad (tiny and cute, but not nearly as functional as the bigger pads)3. GTD Notetaker trifold wallet4. Retro Elite 51 Traveler (probably my favorite of all, though made of more flexible leather)5. Royce Journalist-Style Leather Flip Notepad (never owned it, but looks nice and gets decent reviews)6. The site "notepadrefills" for variously sized generic pad refills at decent pricesWithout further ado, here are the pluses of this item as I see them:+ Innovative design of the clasp / latch depends on the presence of the pen, which makes it fairly secure+ Light construction and thin notepads mean that the entire assembly is small and light+ Good balance between notepad writing surface size and entire assembly size and bulk; there is very little wasted space here+ Metal notepad cover prevents bending+ Spring makes the cover pop open as the pen is removed+ It is easy even for me, a 6'1" person with bass-player hands, to take notes on this pad without support+ Faux-croc patterning on the cover makes it feel nicer, though of course it fools no one+ The twisty pen is quite nicely constructed for the price, and writes well and comfortably+ Easily available refills for pen and pad, plus cheap price makes it easy to keep a spare+ Available in a range of colors, and looks nice enoughNow, the negatives:- Cheap construction; on one, the metal spring extends slightly past the corner of the pad case- I would like to see pads with a few more pages in them- The pen doesn't lock into place; the clip is oh-so-close to sliding past one half of the clasp/latch to do so. This means the pen could theoretically slide out, and a better design would have fixed this- The pen, when slid down into the closed pad until the pen's clip won't let it slide further, extends past the pad- Can't use any other pen of choice with the pad (or at least would still be stuck with the supplied one, married as it is to the latch)- I personally still prefer more comfortable leather covers, since in the end it's not so harmful if a pad bends slightly as long as it's protected

Simple but useful
Even with all the high tech data storage available a notepad sometimes works best and with the variety this company provides there is one to make everyone happy. Minus one star for not providing a black pen.

What a gadget
What a neat little gadget this is with its paper and pen refills available through Amazon. I am forever needing to write something down when I am out and about: the email address of a friend, the phone number off the side of a passing truck, or any of a dozen other things that pop up during the day. Usually, I grab in my purse and the first thing I find is the flimsey grocery receipt from my adventure earlier in the week. I hurridly try to locate a pen or pencil to write with and, if I am VERY lucky, an unbroken writing instrument falls into my hand and I note the information on the grocery list. Later I go to locate the number, cannot recall what I wrote it on, finally remember, and discover "I cleaned my purse" and threw the receipt away. How much more civilized and reliable is this method. It is a nice little note pad that is METAL, so it does not feel like anything else in my purse and is readily locateable. Also, it will hold up forever. I write things in it and then, later, think, "Well, self, you bought that cute little pink thing to record things in and THAT is where your info is!" What a blessing. Not only did I write it down, but I can recall where I wrote it and where the thing is located that I wrote it in. I have already noticed that I have quit picking up fliers and newspapers just to get one phone number out of. I write things down instead and save myself a bit of litter that used to accompany me home when I found a needed number. These little guys come in all types of colors with all sorts of decorations so that you can find one that matches your purse, personality, or outfit color, or even "mood of the day." I have bought one for my two best friends. Hopefully, you will find these inexpensive little gadgets just as useful and fun as I have. I would get one in every color, except, then I would NOT be able to recall where I wrote what. But, you do as fits your own needs. I think these are great little time savers!

Great notepads shame about the refills!
Gorgeous little notepads. Work well and good quality.Big disappointment is the cost of refills of both pens and the notepads due to the exhirbitant postage applied to them.

Lovely metal cased shopping list.
Bought these through Amazon after being bought one as a gift. They are so nice, neat and practical that I am going to give as gifts.Lovely item and spare pads for inside available and reasonably priced. The pen writes well which is even more important. Very slim and neat but plenty of writing space.

Small but perfectly formed
it's tiny, but such a sensible item. The cover provides protection, the colour stands out so I can find it in my messy handbag, and the integral pen means no more searching.I use it to jot down phone numbers, 'to do lists' etc. Very useful.

Excellent
Really like this compact and pretty note pad. It is robust and stylish and I have no fears of a lose biro causing havoc in my bag. Great for the shopping list or writing down any important information I have given all my family these for gifts (in different colours etc.)
