I know the panels are supposed to block light from the inside - are they also opaque from the outside?

They're opaque both directions -- no visible light gets through the curtains. Of course, there are gaps at the top and bottom where a small amount of light can get through -- enough so a room is not pitch black if the curtains are closed.

What is the inside color that you see from the street?

These curtains are the same color on both sides. I ordered two sets - navy is navy on both sides & burgundy is burgundy on both sides.

Can you see through them at night from the outside?

Nope. From the sidewalk outside you can not see through/into the room.
