Works as designed - easy to operate.
This unit captures a high quality image. Once it is set up its fairly easy to forget that it is there and allow it to do its thing. On mine, i had to set Exposure to -1 otherwise it appeared a bit washed out but this was very easy to accomplish. It does seem to capture in car conversation functionally through the internal microphone. It also starts when the car starts, and shuts off when the car shuts off all without my intervention. Like i said, once its set up you dont really have to do anything with it.A minor improvements that I think could be handled by firmware would be a 10-15 second screen auto-turn off instead of one minute. Some improvements which would require major changes would be touchscreen instead of 3 external buttons on each side. I will say that the buttons are fairly intuitive and about 5 minutes of playing around with its, its about as complicated to navigate as an older point and shoot camera. its fairly straightforward, im just saying touch screen in 2018 is fairly par for the course. One major point of contention is the little adhesive clips for the wires. They are really not very usefull. They will not adhere well to the glass so we ended up tucking the wire into the headliner, pillar, and every nook and cranny between camera end and the end plugging into the USB adapter. I will say, the included cable is long and I would say it would provide enough length to run across the windshield, down, across the underside of the dash, to whatever power source you use in any vehicle. We installed it in a 2015 subaru outback... no problem, took about 10 minutes.the windshield mount for the camera itself is sturdy and sticks to the glass strong. Overall, pleased with this unit and am glad to have it installed in the older subaru without i-sight technology. This dash cam has a very acceptable image and allows you to grab a quick snapshop of something you wish to keep with a simple button press.

What's with the Mini USB connector?
I bought this to replace a 4 year old Z-Edge Z3 that started to become unreliable due to the battery wearing out. The old one had a micro USB connector, the new one took an evolutionary step backwards and uses the old style mini connector. Rather than re-wire my car, I had to purchase a mini to micro adaptor. Other than that, it seems to work the same as the old one, except the microphone keeps turning on even though I turn it off as default (and the icon shows it being off). Also, there is a strange clicking sound picked up by the microphone when I do keep the audio. Other than those issues, it works well. The suction cup does let loose sometimes, but I prefer it to a glue-on solution.Update review: There is a button to turn off the microphone, however it does not work all the time, so when reviewing video footage, there is always recorded audio. The audio is distorted and scratchy - not good at all, much worse than my old camera. Looks like they took a step back with the newer design and it does not work as well as the older version. Plus, the clock has added about 10 minutes since I last set it (a few weeks ago).

A Dash Cam and a Peace of Mind
The Zero Edge dash cam has been a welcome addition to my vehicle. Here are some of the reasons why:1. The product was delivered within two days as promised.2. The dash cam was well packed with plastic safety covers over the lens and video screen to keep the product from getting scratched.3. The instruction manual was easy to follow and not the size of a phone book from the 80's. Too many pages can be overly daunting.4. Installing the camera in my car was easy peasy. There are a few pieces that I quickly put together. I then adhered the camera to my windshield just below my rearview mirror with a suction cup. I am not overly handy so if I can do it, I feel like most people can, too. :)5. The power source plugs into the cigarette lighter of your car. The dash cam connects into that with a USB port. Also, there is another USB port in the power source, so you can still charge another device at the same time. I think that's a pretty big deal.6. I was worried that the video footage would be distracting while driving. It's not. I got used to it very, very quickly. The camera lens is wide enough to accommodate more than four lanes of traffic.7. Although you won't get a discount for having a dash cam from your insurance company at this time, most will take the footage from the camera as evidence in the case of an accident or incident.A dash cam hadn't been on my "radar" but I received an opportunity to review the Zero Edge product gratis, and I am so glad that I did! My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I hope I never have to use the footage from my dash cam, but I do have peace of mind that it can help me if needed in the future.
