Good quality, I wish it came with the measuring cup/flask. This hydrometer set is a great value for anyone getting into checking the proof of distilled spirits. Having two meters included is really helpful as backups (these are glass, so accidents can happen), and they arrived well protected. The scales are clear and easy to read, showing both Proof (0–200) and Tralle (0–100% ABV), which makes it simple to verify alcohol strength without needing conversion charts. It works exactly as expected for testing distilled liquor, moonshine, or neutral spirits once fermentation is complete. For beginners, it’s straightforward to use—just float it in your sample and read at the liquid line—and for experienced users it’s a practical, no-frills tool to keep on hand. Overall, this is a solid, budget-friendly set that does what it’s supposed to do without spending a lot on more expensive lab-style equipment.

Performed as described. I found the measurements accurate, easy to read and easy to clean after use. Keep the shippiny and storage box, it is a safekeep for your very fragile device.

These proof testers are inexpensive and easy to use, but apparently not very accurate. You're going to need to calibrate your gauges with a known proof "standard" to understand how to read them going forward. You'll need a glass cylinder for the alcohol, but even a bottle will work for that purpose. I tested both testers in a fresh bottle of rum, and the meniscus showed it just at 80 proof. Given that my room was closer to 75 degrees instead of the 60 degree test temperature, the instructions say to subtract 6 proof. That would leave me with 74 proof. I seriously doubt Bacardi is selling under-proof rum, so I must conclude the gauges aren't accurate. Both gauges showed the same readings, and I made sure they were not touching the sides of the cylinder. They were free floating. Separately, both of my gauges came with a something stuck to the glass. It didn't clean off with water and a sponge. I had to pick it off in multiple spots with a fingernail. I think it's the red glue they use inside the gauge at the bottom. If must have gotten on the outside somehow. I didn't appreciate it. I'm still giving these 4 stars because they do work and I'm assuming they will be consistently inaccurate. Meaning, I'll take my measurements at about 75 degrees and not do the math. This is actually more convenient for me. Yours may require a different temperature, or some/all of the math. This is why it's important to calibrate it against a standard first.

Just what I needed, easy to read, great price for two units and they came the next day. Good quality.

I ordered this product through ignorance on my part. I did not know there was a difference between them for brewing beer,wine,mead and distilling. My error. Nice packaging and quick to ship. I am foregoing return due to low cost of item. Who knows? Maybe I will try distilling someday!!

This hydrometer reads correctly. I like that the pack comes with 2. There's a chart that definitely comes in handy. I good product at a great price.

I purchased this for friend that makes wine. Either the instruction are not clear or it's not accurate. She can get 2 totally different results from 2 different bottle with the exact same ingredients, start time and amount of yeast and sugar. One bottle might be 8 or 9% and the other bottle reads 2% Both bottles will taste exactly the same and seem to have the same amount of alcohol
