🐝 Buzz into Beekeeping Success with Style!
The Mann Lake Plastic Queen Excluder is an essential tool for beekeepers of all levels, designed to prevent the queen bee from laying eggs in the honey super while allowing worker bees to pass through. Made from molded plastic, it features a smooth design that ensures the safety of your bees and fits perfectly in 10 frame Langstroth hives. This 5-pack offers great value for those looking to enhance their beekeeping experience.

"Springy" so be careful, otherwise it works just fine
I should have done more research because taking this excluder off takes finesse. If there are any bees and you just try to pull it off, you could definitely fling them into your face or make them mad by flinging them anywhere when the plastic goes "Boooiiinnggg!".We have to take a lot of time scraping under it, across all the frames and the edges of the boxes to get it free before we can pull it off.I'm considering a metal one, hoping to prevent the springing "boing", but it does the job. No other complaints.

Works just fine
It fits my hives perfectly. Like everything from Mann Lake. The only complaint that I have is that it got slightly warped after leaving it standing vertical for too long.

Tested 3 hives: 2 with excluder, 1 without.
I put new drawn out honey super frames during the end of spring flow (NorthEast USA) i also put on these queen excluders, and noticed that not a ton of bees came up into the super. About 1.5 months later, i added a super to my third hive with crappy old super frames that needed to be cleaned up, but not with the queen excluder. This hive was started as a nuc (along with the other two hives) on the same day and i was pleased to see that WITHOUT the queen excluder, the cleaned the frames, and stored a bunch of honey up there. So i am not completely sold on these excluders because i think they are a big deterrent for the worker bees to go up into my supers.

Good plastic excluder, but I recommend rigid ones instead
Good quality but I might get metal excluders if I had to do it again. Sometimes part of the excluder sticks to the top box while another part sticks to the bottom one. So while you lift it sort of goes boing and shoots bees all over. With a more rigid excluder your hive tool would unglue it all the way around when you pry it up.

Fits great between supers.
I purchased this to go between the brood box, and a super I’ve placed over top of it. I wanted to make sure that the queen stayed in the bottom box, so that the top box would only have honey in it. It’s been on for two months now, and it’s worked lovely. The queen is not been able to pass through, and my super is full of honey. Would definitely recommend buying for the price.

Not the one I wanted
It is not what I wanted. How do I go about sending it back.

plastic material is slippery
the material this is made of is a smooth plastic so i found that when i put the honey super on top i was worried it would slide off. i ended up switching it out for a metal one instead.
