Q: Walking Stick seems to fold out fine and sturdy however there are 3 clear plastic things on the shaft which slide up & down. What is their purpose?

They keep the metal sections from rubbing on each other (and damaging the painted finish) when you have it folded. Keep them there. I found out the hard way that if you don't use them, the edges of the folded sections rub together and ruin the look of the cane at the joints.

Q: I'm 5' tall and having trouble finding a can that is short enough for me. Do you think this cane will work?

I am about 5’ 2” and thought the cane was perfect. It has 3 adjustments, so I think you should have no problem with it.

Q: I see that other canes offer different bases that adjust to your moves. Are there any for this cane?

Most bases fit a standard size cane. This is a standard size cane so you should be able to attach one.
