if you mean behind drywall, between the drywall and the studs, I would say no as it will compress as the drywall is screwed to the wall. There is an acoustic sheeting that is sold in 4x8 sheets that will provide a sound dampening effect and is much firmer.

Q: Would this work in the trunk of a mustang to help to reduce noise from performance mufflers?

It didn't seem very effective for noise
