Vinyl Record MCA Coral MCA-170 Review: Finally, on cd - I love this album spooky it’s great that the re-issuing these Mark Garson albums Review: A superior transfer from the original 1970,s record. - I bought this album when it came out in the early seventies.Finding it not available as a CD about ten years ago I transferd the record to a CD format myself. The results where acceptable for the transfer I had made. However this CD version is much superior to the one I made so I am very happy with this product.I enthusiastically recommend this CD knowing the quality of sound is fantastic.

Black Mass by Lucifer CD
It's great to have this classic on CD However, there was too much noise reduction applied, and the high end lost some important dynamics in the recording.

The magnificent occult masterpiece is now an ultra high quality CD reissue
I never thought this magnificent album would ever get released on CD, and here it is! This is such a timeless album for anyone who likes a little bit of sinister in their music. It’s eerie and scary at times, and beautiful and relaxing at other times. Mort Garson really knew how to use the Moog to great effect. The CD was remastered from original master tapes and you can hear things you never heard before on your old vinyl copy, and without all of those annoying pops and clicks that interfere. From the very quiet opening of Solomon’s Ring to the very end of the other worldly ESP, I’m just speechless how good this sounds. It’s topped off by the reproducing of the original LP sleeve notes and a CD label very similar to the original UNI records label. A top notch reissue!!

Black Mass, One of a kind!
I bought the LAST vinyl copy of this at a Turtles in 1971 (1972?). I have never regretted it. The cover alone was worth the price. There are still electronic music ''albums'' but this IS one of a kind. Ken Elkinson's Halloween Ambient is pretty good, but doesn't top Black Mass by Lucifer. I tried to track down the copyright owner to use the cover art in a project to no avail. I've made several copies from vinyl to CD for my own use as backups also to prevent loss by normal vinyl disc degradation. I've done this for no other LP recording! You can believe I have a LOT of vinyl here after 60+ years collecting. If you don't like this album you probably shouldn't be reviewing any electronic music. You're entitled to your opinion but if you don't like fish you shouldn't review grilled swordfish!

A Sound Experiance That Has No Rival
I have owned this from the early days when I got it out of a Cut Corner Bin at the Vinyl Record Store. This is one of the best albums for pure sound experiance. It is a feast of sounds that cannot be described. I have listened to a lot of music over the years, and you should have this album if for no other reason than to gather everyone together in a dark room with the lights out, and put this on, and see who runs out first. During the day you can listen to this album and it is great. Headphones = great = as long as your eyes are open. I am not saying that this is an album of evil sound, what I am saying is that this is an album of some of the most haunting sounds ever put together. And this is not a bad thing, and there in lies the problem, this album sounds great. It is quite enjoyable to listen to, as long as your eyes are open, and the lights are on, or it is daylight. I do not kid you, that is how I was introduced to it, and all my freinds who have heard it from me over the years agree. I had one friend who could be sound asleep and we would put it on, (8 track version) and he would come out of a dead sleep within just a few seconds. We had a few good laughs at his expense with this album. So if you want something that really is not the same old, same old, I really recommend this album. It is not selling for this price just because of the name, this is a very sought after gem.
