EU-ONE-W Electronic Ukulele - USB MIDI Electric Guitar Controller with Multiple Tones & Rhythms - iPad and Android compatible (Assembled - Plastic)

I got this primarily as a MIDI controller, but I've not been able to get that function to work at all, neither by USB nor by Bluetooth. I tried the EU-ONE app on three different Android devices, and it won't work with any of them. I can manually pair with the device, but the app won't connect. I'm a software developer, and other reviews pointed to availability of the Arduino source code, so I may yet get this thing working, but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it would become another software project (I have plenty of those in my day job, thanks.) On the positive side, the EU-ONE is beautifully designed and constructed. The built-in sounds are okay, and the chord-mode works well (important for me, a non-guitar player). But since I can't get the app to work, I can't change any of the chords or other settings.

Purchased both the DIY and the assembled model and had issues with the same string on both instruments. On the assembled model the 1st string didn’t work at all. TrueToSource was very responsive and tried to help but I was told that the item I purchased had an assembly problem.
