not bad
This book can be a hard read because the concepts are discussed pretty quickly and there aren't that many review problems for each chapter

Fantastic Mid-Level/Intermediate FEA Text!
This is a fantastic book on stress analysis using FEA. It is a really nicely presented take on the classical treatment of FEA. I would reccomend this book as a 2nd text for a student who understands the basics of stress analysis using FEA and wants to deepen and widen their understanding. My personal preference for the order in which FEA books should be used is1) Introduction: Mac DonaldĀ Practical Stress Analysis with Finite Elements (2nd Edition) ,2) Intermediate: (THIS BOOK)3) Complex: BatheĀ Finite Element Procedures .This book should be a requirement after finshing Mac Donald's book.Highly reccommended once you understand the basics!

fantastic guide for structural FEA
This book is an absolutely fantastic guide to all aspects of structural finite element analysis, with short sections on thermal and other disciplines. It can be described as a book on how to REALLY use FEA - an appropriate level of theory is discussed, and then the author provides a very lucrative discussion of actually using FEA to model real-world systems. Pitfalls, how elements can or cannot actually model structures, and generally good FEA practise are discussed. If you want to know what you're doing using FEA and have an engineering background, you want this book.

Two Stars
Horrible book, not enough examples of anything

Not Terrible
The book is written in that textbook style way where it is hard to understand, but after reading a whole chapter and looking back, things make sense. A lot will not make sense though if you do not have a basic understanding of linear algebra.

A good starter text
Has been good so far for the beginning of my FE course (presents theory well and is relatively step by step for examples); does not cover Galerkin method. A First Course in FE Analysis by Logan is another decent text and does cover Galerkin method (albeit briefly). This is not a comprehensive review.
