As an old guy, weight of a tool is really important to me...The Makita DA4000LR weighed in at 8.1 lbs and the closest competition was the Dewalt DW120k which came in at 9.75 lbs. That 2 lbs is VERY noticeable to me! When the Makita was delivered, i was really surprised at the really fine quality and the lower decibel levels of the unit compared to other 1/2" drills like the dewalt and the milwaukee...The only negative was the storage case which is strong on the outside, but weak on the inside, and arrived with a tear inside. Since there is no way to order a case separately, Amazon was nice enough to make an adjustment, as the drill is even better than I could have even hoped for!

I've drilled hundreds of 133mm holes through though Kerto-S beams with ease, even in tight spaces. The drill runs remarkably quiet and cool. Case is roomy, but seems to be quite flimsy. Highly recommended
