Excellent buy
I really think was a great buy for me. This is the entry level controller which is not to complicated to operate and learn. For anyone like myself who likes to learn in stages, this is the perfect controller to start off with. It won't discourage you, it only makes you wanna learn more about digital djaying.

Surprisingly great little controller
Surprisingly great little controller. I'm actually a professionally touring DJ who bought this to pick up a high-paying restaurant gig that needed chillout and lounge music. I'd never used anything in the DDJ series before, but I've used basically all of the high end DJ gear that pioneer offers at the professional level. This felt right at home and I could quickly start playing, beatmatching and mixing with some really pleasant results for such a compact and cheap piece. The only downfall is the very limited output options and having no through input just in case you needed to. But the look, feel and sound of pioneer was all there. Really pleasantly surprised. For the price you can't beat this controller.

Pretty cool controller to get you familiar with the advances ...
Pretty cool controller to get you familiar with the advances in DJ technology (if thats what you want to call it). The response time is very quick and the pads work well. You can set cue points, loops, and samples. There's also a sync button. You need a DJ software to use this (not sure if you need a laptop as well, but i think you do). Cool product to get your feet wet, i'd recommend the newer model or perhaps one with more features.
