Roces USA Men's Metropolis Inline Skates

WOW, TOTALLY AWESOME, these are really incredible skates, probably the best pair of street / asphalt skates I've purchased. As a long time skater myself I thought I would share with you some of the most important features of outdoor skates, focusing primarily, first and foremost on safety. Whether you are buying for yourself or especially for child you want a skate that places strength, quality, comfort, and fun to use at the top of the list. Roces Metropolis outdoor skate has all of this and more, put together in a classy package. My biggest concern has always been the safety of an outdoor skate. As a parent, I originally started aggressive skating with my teenage boys years ago. If you are familiar with aggressive skating, or have never heard of it, I would suggest you check out YouTube aggressive skating videos to get the feel.Aggressive skates are basically a hard shelled ski boot, with two wheels on each end and a circular cutout to latch onto half pipes. My boys skated competitively and would skate half pipes that are 22' high reaching speeds of 50-60 mph. With such a dangerous sport I made sure my teenagers were in the best boots on the market so when they do wipe out they don't break an ankle. Additionally, in aggressive skating you do many turns, jumps, handstands and a variety of very dangerous tricks, not recommended for low quality skates.Back to asphalt skates, aggressive skaters don't always have a skate park handy, so they moved the sport outdoors on asphalt. Jumping curbs, leaping over entire sets of outdoor stairs, and any other insane jumps they can think up. Since the degree of outdoor skating has become more aggressive, companies likes Roces is responding by producing higher quality asphalt skates.I purchased Roces Metropolis skates, and skate almost every day. I am very impressed with the quality of their skates and thought I would share some of the features that make this such a great skate. Again I tend to spend a lot of attention on the safety features in any skate before I purchase them. Below is a list of items that I see as being very important when purchasing skates, all of these features are in this Roces skate,1. They have a lightweight, very tough, outer shell like a ski boot covering the entire boot.2. This shell is strong enough to ensure the skater doesn't break ankles in an unforeseen mishap.3. The upper part of the shell, (the cuff), tilts forward some encouraging you to bend your knees and keep your weight forward over your boots.4. Using this stance will make you a better, safer skater.5. The boots are soft, comfortable, fun to maneuver, and easy to control.6. The memory lock on the boots means you are in an out of your skates in a Nano second.7. The only downside of this boot is the wheels. The quality is low and they will need to be replaced very soon when you start skating, because the will start developing dangers ridges that can lead to a very serious fall. The skating wheel is to soft and the asphalt wreaks havoc over the wheel).There are many great replacement wheels such as Rink Rat or Labyrinth with an 80mm/84A rating. Just choose a wheel made for asphalt with good ratings and you are one your way. And Yes, wheels come in wonderful red colors which look really great when strutting your leaps and turns.
