Great camping or emergency light for power outages! Very bright for s large rrom.

The lantern works well, and has a nice brightness range - I'd say something like an 8-10ft radius of usable light on high, and maybe 3ft radius on low. It's nice that it has different color temperatures too. It's kind of a strange size, if you ask me, which I think is mostly due to the use of 3x D batteries for power delivery. It could be smaller and lighter if it had a rechargeable lithium battery. The D batteries are definitely a better choice for emergency use, though, and I think this is perfect for exactly those emergency scenarios. I wouldn't say it's ideal for much else, other than car camping, perhaps. Despite a fairly powerful light output, I don't think it's a very impressive value for what you get, but if the power goes out you'd be glad to have it, regardless.

Awesome totally love this lantern. We should have an option to be charged as well as having the batteries that had both options, but the batteries work love the four of the front light levels. Take a whole lot of room.

This is a OK little lantern. My single gripe about it, and it is a big gripe, is the battery type. In this day and age, this type of battery is almost unheard of in a device like this. Why they wouldn't build this with 26650 or similar batteries is beyond me. It does seem to work OK but I am not very impressed with it. I have 2 similar lanterns. One runs on a single 26650 battery. Another runs on 3 21700 batteries. Both lanterns are more powerful, brighter, smaller, and lighter weight. Battery technology has come so far recently that a lantern like this is basically outdated. Light does work OK but it probably won't get much use here. I would not get this again. I would search for something more advanced than this. I also wish I had a way to test the output. I wonder if this isn't actually 1000 lumens.

Amazon Basics Camping Essentials Lantern is cheaply made. Took this camping. Hung it on a branch and the hook broke causing the lantern to hit the ground and break. Unfortunately, the lantern is now in a trash bin in Yosemite. The lantern is quite small and portable. This is not rechargeable. It takes D batteries. The black color is simple. The lantern was easy to use and the brightness was enough to help you see in the dark. It wasn't bright enough for a large area, but worked well in my tent.

This is a really handy little lamp for camping. It's got good brightness and even though it runs on d batteries it gets a really good battery life. We went through a whole camping trip and still the big batteries are holding a full charge as you can see based off of the charge indicator. The handle has a nice grip so you can hang it on just about anything and you're not going to worry about it sliding off. It's nice and light and packs way small. I would have loved for it to have been a USB charging with a Lithium-Ion battery, but this way you can have one that you know is going to hold up with batteries in it and stow it away without it discharging on its own. So it's always good to have one of those in your pack

Neat and easy to use. Strong light, easy to carry. I use it in the kitchen as an emergency light- there if I need it. It tucks in a corner near the door so it's on hand straight away.
