Great For A Student!
I initially bought this computer two months ago, as a school laptop. I got the Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB - Platinum.**PROS**Keyboard: Upon first glance, the keyboard was my favorite. It has a very soft but hard texture. It also has a backlit keyboard, so you can type in the dark. This is great if you are a student and trying to finish your homework at 2 in the morning.Face recognition: I set it up so that it can recognize me with both my glasses on and without. You can also set it up so that it recognizes you with different pairs of glasses.Touchscreen: I love the touchscreen! I downloaded so many games, like Candy Crush and Angry Birds, that need a touchscreen to complete the experience. On Explorer, you can take Web Notes, which is where a screenshot is taken of the website you are viewing, and you can digitally write on it. The Surface Pen is great if you prefer writing/drawing things out instead of typing. Also, there is a Windows Ink Workspace, which gives you the options of Sticky Notes, a Sketchpad, or a Snip and Sketch (screenshot).Notes: There are so many features and I just can't seem to discover them all!The brightness levels change according to the brightness of the room, which is pretty interesting.Charger: The charger connects with the laptop very easily. It is magnetic, so if you trip on the wire, it won't ruin the charger. The head of the charger also lights up to signal when it is charging. The charger also contains a USB port that can be used for charging your phone.**CONS**Laptop Ports: There is only one USB port, a Mini DisplayPort, a headphone jack, and a Surface connect port (for charging). The single USB port makes me mad because I can never plug more than one thing in. I have to unplug and replug, over and over again. I've never used the DisplayPort, and I'm not really sure what it's for. And although, I've given the keyboard high praises, it DOES turn brownish after a while due to sweaty hands.Overall, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new laptop.Update 3 years later: The keyboard will discolor after a while, so I had to buy a keyboard sticker in order to cover the dark spots. Other than that, my laptop is still going strong!

Love it - worth paying for
I had tried a few other less expensive machines (Dell) and returned them in short order. This one feels and looks great out of the box, feels well built and over the last few days battery life has been excellent. Keyboard is fantastic and I'm a fan of the fabric, other machines the metal rubs and scrapes - clearly not an issue w/ this one. Also the touch screen is great and I feel Msft is pushing other providers once again (MAC is 2 years behind everyone else at this point) My one grip is storage is expensive so I just went w/ 128 GB SSHD, @ 8 GB of RAM - w/ family access to OneDrive and 5 TB of storage it won't be an issue but would have been nice to have 256 GB HD - I just wasn't willing to pay for it.Overall I'm converted - I think I'll be in the Surface Line for awhile.

Lightweight, long-lasting laptop
The laptop is sleek, light, and thin for all of the tech that is (potentially) inside of it. I have had it for two months, and the quality and battery life has remained high. The mouse is responsive and has a short, satisfying click. My only gripes would be with durability and longevity. The fabric-coated deck of the laptop has held up well to moderate use, but is susceptible to stains and peeling up at the edges. It is comfortable and smooth otherwise. Also, the exterior of the laptop is matte aluminum, and is an absolute magnet for scratches; a case is a must. The screen, being a touch screen, gets covered in fingerprints easily. The keyboard is satisfying to type on; the keys are somewhat quiet and have a reasonable throw for a laptop so thin. I have had no issues with the software on the laptop, nor issues with overheating.Overall, I would absolutely buy this again. I would consider the Surface the Windows equivalent to a base-level MacBook Pro.

Great laptop!
I searched for a laptop for school for several weeks, combing through hundreds of reviews and types. I decided on this one based on overall price point and reviews. Overall, this is an awesome laptop. It charges really fast and the battery life is pretty good. I love that it starts right up and recognizes your face as soon as you open it. It is durable and super fast. I use it mainly for taking exams, Microsoft office, and other things for school. I love the draw feature on it especially for lectures. You don’t really need the stylus pen. Overall, I have been pleased with this laptop and would definitely recommend it especially for the price point. It is super quiet and light weight as well!

Awesome laptop
I absolutely love my Surface Laptop. It's lightweight, the battery has good life and I love the touch screen.I didn't purchase through Amazon, however. They could not ship to my area. It was ordered from a 3rd party vendor and it was shipped, but 4 days later UPS sent it back as they could not ship to my area which took another several days to be returned before my account was credited. Anything with a NiCad battery cannot be shipped via air. I ended up buying the laptop locally (which was brought in via ship).

Charger stops working after just 6 months - want a replacement
I love my computer, its functional, sleek and very portable. Everything was excelent UNTILL the charger stops working after 6 months! (I purchased my computer in december). I would like to know if I can get a replacement, out of the warranty, this is just unacceptable. Very dissapointed.

Battery cord is a bit short.
Laptop 2 i5 for under $1,000 has been spectacular since received. Highly recommended for students, professionals, business travelers, and especially anyone who types a lot; the keyboard is extremely comfortable. Because the laptop is compact it is limited to one (1) USB port & one (1) on the battery cord / charger pack. Being not much of a touch-screen person myself - the "shut down and drag" feature is really nice when packing up and on the go. Overall a quick and easy to use laptop. Great laptop for the price!
