Q: I have lost the directions. How do you set the time and date?

There are three buttons on the back of the clock. They are labeled "A", "B", & "C". Each time you press "A" it changes which field you will be setting i.e. "Year", "Hour", "Minutes", "Month", "Day". "B" changes the value of each field. You can only change the value "upward" so if you are changing the "minute" field and it is currently "1" and you want it to be "59" then you are going to have to cycle it through 2, 3, ... up to 59. The "C" button saves all of your changes and gets you out of setup mode and back to clock mode. The first time you press "A" it will display the year in the hours and minutes fields. Like "20 10". You change the year with the "B" button. It will only change the second part of the year i.e. the "10" part. It assumes that you will never need to change the "20" part of the year because the clock will probably not last 100 years. When you are in clock mode it does not display the year but it needs to know what year it is because of leap year. i.e. is their a Feb. 29 or not? As you change the value of the year you will see the day of the week change because there is already a value in the month/day and which day of the week it is changes depending on what year it is. It throws you for a loop the first time you see it happen but you can ignore it. You will set the month and day fields later. When every field has been set correctly then press the "C" button and you are finished. Our clock works well. Good Luck - R. Young

Yes, this clock mysteriously goes blank Feb 28. Wait til tomorrow, unplug/replug, it should be okay. I forgot today was Feb 28… but then noticed my clock was blank. Gets me every year!

Q: does it have a dimmer?

No, it does not have a dimmer. It's a great time piece, that we use in the living room, and everybody can see the time.
