A "sweet treat" that is actually healthy for you!
Tigernuts have a subtle sweetness to them that is undeniable. I bought them specifically to give my teeth and jaw muscles a work out because I rely on protein smoothies in my diet a lot. They are definitely a challenge to chew up raw, and probably not for everyone in this way, but I love them! I don't like chewing gum, so these give my teeth and facial muscles stimulating exercise. I like the fact that, as root vegetables, they are an unprocessed vegan food, with no sugar or chemicals added. And they add much needed natural fiber to my diet at the same time. If I get the urge to snack when I know I shouldn't be eating excess calories or junk food, I reach for a few tigernuts to satisfy me. And because they virtually never spoil, I can keep a bag in my car and another at my work desk and snack without feeling guilty.

The best NUT-FREE alternative that also happens to be gluten-free!
My favorite way to use these "non" nuts is to turn them into plant milk and that is what I use them for. They are amazing for that purpose because the milk is sweet without having to add sugar. They are also good in their sliced form as an ice cream topping, smoothie bowl topping, fruit topping, and pancake topping. I highly recommend these! Stock up!

Tasty
I like this! Keeps me full. To ease the hardness, I leave it in water for like an hour. I eat this all the time and it does have great health benefits and one of them have to do with BM

Odd but good
They look dried up squirrel nuts and they taste oddly sweet. A sort of crunchy yet chewy texture. Overall, they are good. I could see making flour out of them. Or just grabbing a handful when I need something to crunch or chew on.

Think about it before you buy ...
I found these to be a bit like eating raw hay that's been coated with a bit of sweetness. These have GOT to be soaked before you eat them.I soaked a handful and tried them at 4 hours, 8 hours, and 24 hours. The 24-hour handful were the easiest to eat (duh...), but even at 24 hours, eating these was not a pleasure. The taste is fine, in fact, to me they even tasted good.It is the texture and consistency of the item that makes them almost inedible... what happened was that as I chewed, the 'water-soluble' (?) parts of the nuts chewed out, and tasted great, and I swallowed that tiny bit... the problem was that after the 'good part' was chewed out, what was left in my mouth was the straw that never did get softer, no matter how much I chewed... so I just swallowed it without it being soft at all.And then I stopped eating them because I got to thinking - are these even safe to eat? What do they do to the digestive system? If you eat a lot of them, there's going to be a lot of fiber passing through the digestive system... if you need fiber that's great, but stay close to home...I would like to hear from the people who have purchased the shelled/peeled nuts. Is the consistency the same?

Not pealed but great flavour
These are not peeled and they are not hydrated so they are not really "ready to eat" unless you have a jaw of steel. But after 24 hours in water they are delicious and they make a great orchata (tigernut milk).

Taste so MOLDY!!!!!
These were dried after they had mold on them. They taste awfully moldy. The only thing that helps a bit is soking them in boiling water, and rinsing them.

tiger nuts bread
I love this flour, I went online and found a recipe for tiger nuts bread. I would highly recommend this flour if you are looking to go gluten free. the taste and texture were so nice , I was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to put together, baking time was a bit longer for me than recommended. I also bought the whole tiger nuts for munching, the kinda have a walnut taste, although not a nut, texture was very fibrous. taste was good. My bread came out sorta like a banana nut bread
