Great guide for the video neofite
I just started working with video at my new job, so I needed to learn the basics of it. This book has really helped me understand the in and outs of it.I might need a more detailed book on a couple of subjects later on, but at least I could get a general perspective of the whole with this book, and now I have a much better understanding of the terms, technology and history of video.

Overall very good
I haven't fully read it yet, but I think the first few chapters give a good idea of the writing style. The book is really very informative. Unfortunately I believe it could have been written better. I've read the first 2 chapters several times until I understood everything written in them.In my opinion, for a revision, I believe it would be excellent. For learning the topic for a first time, be prepared to read it a couple of times to understand everything.

THE BEST DARN BOOK !
The Best information I have read in many, many years. If you want a great basic / in depth breakdown of analog video signals to the transition tothe digital signals this is it. If anyone finds a better reference manual please post so I can purchase that one too.FYI I bought the print version because someone had mentioned that the digital copy did not have the color inserts.

great coverage of video
I was taking a graduate course in college in multimedia and learning it for my work. This book provides the best detailed coverage of video I have seen after looking a many books on multimedia. The material covers technical aspects in a way that makes them understandable for someone without an electrical engineering background but provides the details needed to really understand video. Recommended highly.

No color graphics in the Kindle edition and info is a bit dated.
I'm using the kindle software on my iPad and have other Kindle book versions that properly display color graphics, however this book has not been formatted to properly display color images. Somewhat of an oversight considering the color images convey important information; information that is lost when the images are only displayed in greyscale. The information in the book is dated for US reads (not familiar with EU transmissions) since, to my knowledge, analog transmissions are no longer used here and who buys CRT displays.

Excellent resource for understanding heavy material about equipment and how it works. But it is a heavy read.

Great book!
This book is very straight forward and a pretty easy read (depending on the section). It is great at explaining many topics I've been wondering about. Great source of information for the beginning broadcast engineer, or to refresh for anyone.
