Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Theoretical book
This book is a good book, however, depending on what you are looking for it might be a bit disappointing. It's main focus is theory, from how mri images are formed, how brain's blood vessels produce the signal to the processing of the data, everything is treated theoretically, with little to no practical examples, so if what you are looking for is a theoretical introduction and get some concepts about this technology, buy it, if you want a more hands-on approach, them don't, other books such as handbook of fmri data analysis is more suitable to what you want, even better, combine that one with tutorials from the most important software from the field (FSL, FreeSurfer, SMP, or libraries such as nypipe which combine the former) and get your knowledge by practicing all those techniques described in 'fmri imaging'

so good deal. A bit expensive
Yes this met my expectation. The cover was in decent condition, by this I mean there were a few dents on the side, but other than that, all the pages were intact. so good deal. A bit expensive, but relative to other online stores.

Great In-depth textbook for fMRI!
Great in-depth textbook of the basics and principles of functional neuroimaging. For anyone interested the physics and the psychological principles of fMRI, this text covers the basics of MRI, as well as newer developments in the field such as resting state MRI, functional connectivity, and etc. Great update of topics and principles and images compared to version 2. Would highly recommend!

Very good sections on Statistics
Ecellent book, very complete. It even covers a bit the connection with EEG and Local Field Potential. Very good sections on Statistics.

It is the state-of-art about the fMRI. The book ...
It is the state-of-art about the fMRI. The book holds the hands of a novice reader from the first chapter, and carries him/her through the book. Lovely.

An excellent introductory text for those just getting oriented to fMRI ...
A very well-organized and intuitive presentation of the fundamental science and methods of fMRI. An excellent introductory text for those just getting oriented to fMRI and its role in cognitive neuroscience research.

Concept as well as math-oriented
Both conceptual & also formula-based. Explains everything in 2 ways. Very clear.

FMRI (or how I learnt to pronounce 'Huettel')
Highly recommended for any budding FMRI scientists out there.Provides a very comprehensive overview of MRI including: NMR phenomenon, MR signal generation, Contrast and acquisition methods, coupling between neuronal and hemodynamic activity & BOLD response. Also gives broad brushstrokes on data analysis: preprocessing, statistical analyses, etc. This new edition seems to touch on every aspect in the field of FMRI, without going into crazy detail. Much of the math is spared, however, one great thing is how well the book is referenced - google scholar thus becomes an invaluable partner to the text. For someone looking for an in depth view of certain topics, e.g. GLM linear algebra, statistics, pulse sequences, then I wouldn't recommend this. Better go for something like Intro to Linear Algebra (G. Strang) or Statistical Analysis of FMRI data (Ashby), or even something by Andy Field (for stats), or for pulse sequences, go for the Handbook of Pulse Sequences (M. Bernstein).BUT, for a very nice broad spec view of FMRI, this is really good. Sometimes it's nice to get the whole picture when you're bogged down in the details. I personally (doing a PhD) find this text really helpful when trying to refresh MR theory. So definitely good as a companion text, but should be used in conjunction with the endless maelstrom of scientific articles available.P.S. Is it Hyootel? Or Hootel? Huttle? Hooeytel?

I needed to learn about functional MRI for my research and this book is the best I have come across
This book is well written. Its thorough and uses lots of visual imagery to explain concepts. Every new word is written in red in the text and then they are defined on the side of the page. I needed to learn about functional MRI for my research and this book is the best I have come across. If you are new to fMRI and need a good source of information to build a solid foundation in this topic, this is the book for you.I love it!

The best in the field
for me the best book in fMRI. Very comprehensive and the writer assume no previous background.

Breaks down hard concepts into understandable pieces
As a student coming in with no imaging or mathematics background, this was such a great book for really developing concepts I need to use in my project. Excellent!
