I will always have one of these on my filters
I have a shrimp tank and unfortunately found multiple of my shrimp up in my filter. So I went hunting for something to keep them safe. I started with the foam covers, but those were easily dislodged and became very dirty very quickly, which slowed my filter down. When I came across this, I thought it was worth a try. Not only has it kept my shrimp safe and out of my filter, but it also keeps a lot of other things like plants from my filter. I have now gotten one for every filter of mine and my sister’s tanks. I would definitely recommend this for anybody who needs to keep things out of the filter.

Fits perfectly on 17mm intake
I wasn’t able to find detailed reviews of the size that it fits. I have the 17mm glass Lily pipe intake and it fits like a glove. I used to use a sponge over the intake to prevent my shrimp and fry, and Chili Rasboras from getting sucked into the intake but the sponge was constantly clogging and it didn’t really let the canister filter do it’s job. This metal screen however, doesn’t clog, flows great and allows the canister filter to collect the small stuff. Of course, the metal screen will not let leaves and larger debris past it. But I’m extremely happy with this solution.

Definitely keeps debris and other things from going into your canister filter . And easy to install and clean .

Tiny!! Not what is pictured for sale
This product would fit on my ring finger!! They make it look super large in the photos but is in fact a tiny device. It is extremely cheaply made and the opening is about as big around as my finger. The rubber piece that you would put onto your intake is so flimsy and loose it wouldn't make a difference if you had this on there or not!!!

Keeps out shrimp, works for Fluval 107 intake.
Fits the Fluvial intake perfectly. Wire is stronger than the sponge type so it doesn't tear up. Since it's wire it does not impede water flow AT ALL. I don't even have to clean it because the shrimp can walk on it without being caught (they clean it). Had it for several months now NO PROBLEMS.

Snug fit for Fluval Aquaclear 50
Nice snug fit on Fluval Aquaclear 50. Just be gentle as you shimmy it onto the intake tube. No lubricant needed.

Great product
The item is great and I knew it wouldn't fit my fx6 filter so I had to modify it. I took the side with the white ring off and kept all the wire and metal tip. Then wrapped it around the fx6 intake with some zip ties and now it works like a charm. Now I don't have to worry about any fry being sucked up.
