Inexpensive, easy to set up and use and tons of functions. Buying more!
I'm a long time user of the Kasa smart plugs, which have been operating flawlessly for me at several locations for years and all are on schedules. I had no idea Kasa made dimmer switches as I've always just stuck to Lutron dimmers. I saw these on a suggested product on Amazon and decided to give them a try. I've been using the dimmer switch for a about a week now. These ARE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR AND EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. I mean holy crap I'm impressed with the quality, ease of install, set up and functions. I'll be looking for other switches to replace with these. And for the incredibly cheap price (compared to lutron) I really couldn't be happier. I really like that I can use the switch with all functions at the wall as well as on my cell phone.

Fixed LED buzzing - high value product that does everything advertised
DIY homeowner here - This fixed my LED dimming issues! Background - I installed numerous Ensenior recessed LED lights and wanted a smart dimmer to control them, but my Feit dimmer switches were buzzing when dimmed. I purchased a Kasa single and 3-way switch and which solved everything. Kasa was easier to install than other switches, had better instructions, and the app is very good having step by step instructions in the app itself. Wiring was much easier with provided pigtailed wires on the device and it's easier to fit the device into the outlet box because it is slimmer than most other switches. The app works great to control the lights as well as the normal touch on and off function. I use inside outlet switches to smart control outside switches on a different circuit. Easy to recommend with high value product that does everything advertised. Much faster to install and start using than Feit.

Best smart home devices ever
From solid experience using many Kasa smart devices, dimmers, switches and outlets, I am totally convinced that they are the best, easiest to install and connect to WiFi and most reliable smart home devices ever. Customer support is very helpful and friendly. Once I had a little difficulty to connect a dimmer to WiFi, it took customer support 5 minutes to help me connect it and gave me a valuable tip to make connecting any devise, not just Kasa but any smart home devices ever, to connect a smart home devise the cellular data has to be off temporarily until connection is successful. I rank Kasa (TP-Link) smart products, as #1.

Installation relatively easy, beware of the DEEP switch! Need a Leviton switch plate cover.
Interesting installation: Two of the wires (ground, neutral) are fastened to existing wires in the switch box with wire nuts. But line and load wires need to be attached to the switch with screw terminals.. Since my old switch had the wires attached to the switch with push-wire installation, I had to remove the wires from the old switch, then bend the wires into a little “C” shape to install them onto the TP Link’s screw terminals, then fasten those down. This made the installation a bit more tedious, but it does save a bit of room in the switch box (as the wire nuts can be bulky and take up a bit of room). After some effort was able to fit the switch into the switch box, but it was quite a tight fit. This is a thick switch. Screwed it in (it’s in a 2-gang switch box with another decora/decorator-type switch that controls the bathroom fan) and tried to put on the Legrand 2-gang decorator switch plate, but the bottom of the plate would not cover the TP Links switch fully. There was a little annoying gap at the bottom, even with the switch plate fully fastened. I bought another 2-gang switch plate (by Leviton) and this was a midway switch which was a bit deeper.. thankfully this fit perfectly! So keep that in mind.. if you don’t use the included switch plate cover by TP Link, you’ll need a deeper, thicker switch plate cover to accommodate this thick switch. Leviton’s midway plate worked well for this. Now that the switch is installed it works great. Installed via the TP Link Kasa app, connected to Alexa and added to Home Assistant. The dimmer functionality works well and the switch looks nice. I am not sure how I like the switch feel when using the switch manually, though. It feels a little odd (not like a “real” click from a mechanical switch). Most of the time I use sensors and timers to turn the switch on/off, so not a big deal, but the physical switch itself doesn’t feel 100% like a real manual/mechanical switch. Overall I like it. It’s a great value for the price (less than $20) and it is UL listed, which was an important requirement for me.

KASA Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 is reliable, easy to install, easy to use....
We purchased this KASA smart dimmer switch to replace a similar switch that was installed when our house was built. That original switch was NOT a TP-Link product, and it did not connect with the KASA app, which is what most of our smart home devices used. We really prefer TP-Link and KASA connectivity because they are very user friendly. If the power or the Internet go out, these devices usually reconnect automatically. If they don't, resetting is very straight forward and quick. This particular TP-Link switch was easy to install, and once installed, was super easy to connect to our Wi-Fi. We love that we can adjust the lighting level from the switch or from the app. This switch controls 24 outdoor eve lights without any connection issues. Amazing! The switch also matches the look of other wall switches in our house. It's easy to use and very responsive. We are very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to install a single pole smart switch.

Doesn't work with the KASA app.
Update: I was able to get the switches to work. I missed a step in the process. Good switches. It would help to make the step of going to the wifi list to get connected more clear. at least for me. The app does not allow this switch to be connected. It is not listed on the app and none of the available options work. So, switch works, just doesn't do the Alexa voice command. Disappointing, TP Link is better than that.

It’s designed for American homes which have a 110V supply. UK homes have a 230/240 V supply so it can’t be used in UK homes

This smart dimmer switch works very well, but installation may be challenging for someone with no electrical experience. I have some basic electrical knowledge, so I was able to install it without major issues, but I wouldn’t call it beginner-friendly. Once installed, it performs exactly as expected. Being able to turn lights on and off remotely is extremely convenient, especially at night—I really like not having to get up to turn the lights off before going to bed. The dimming function works smoothly, and the connection has been stable. I did run into one limitation in my condo: not all switch boxes had enough space. The switch itself is deeper than standard switches, so I couldn’t install it everywhere and had to limit it to rooms where there was enough space in the wall box. Despite that, the switches I was able to install are working great. Overall, it’s a solid and reliable smart dimmer, and I would recommend it—just make sure you have enough space in your switch box and some basic wiring knowledge before installing.

The build quality of the switch is impressive, installation was pretty easy and the Kasa app is guiding everything step by step. Once it’s set up, it works just like a normal switch, but with the bonus of smart control. Scheduling lights to turn on and off automatically is super convenient. I like that it doesn’t need a hub and still works manually if the Wi-Fi goes out. The back side of the switch is a bit bulky, so fitting it into smaller wall boxes can be tight.

I have had a smart home with 50+ devices for about a decade, since Apple first brought out its HomeKit smart home system. I have a lot of experience with the benefits and also the many hassles of smart home devices. Firstly let me comment on the physical product itself, and the company behind it. Great design. Great quality. Committed brand, with a good track record I think you can trust. Easy to physically install if you are comfortable with connecting wires, and can turn off a circuit breaker. You MUST have white "neutral" wires, which typically any electrical system done since the 1980's will have. Instructions are straight forward. You might discover some of your existing switches are not wired in typical ways. If this is the case and you don't fully understand it, get an electrician. I think most people will be okay. BUT … from an all around software setup perspective, this is by far the most aggravating installation experience I ever had - until it wasn't. This is the FIRST Matter protocol device I have installed in my Apple Home. I DO have the required Matter/Thread routers that are needed. In this case of an Apple Home, several Apple TVs and HomePods. If you use Google Home, or Alexa, or other you MUST also have in your home a “Matter Hub” capable product from Google or Alexa respectively. I spent almost a full time week, googling, trying various things, getting frustrated, and I would rate myself a 9/10 on expertise in this area. Until I learned the best trick. You HAVE to FULLY commit if you want to move to the Matter, protocol and I think you SHOULD. Even if you do at first get it working without this drastic step, I think you are just pushing hidden problems into the future. Start FRESH. All those smart home rules, profiles, pairings, etc you have built over the years - you should DELETE THEM ALL, and FACTORY RESET ALL your smart home devices. Delete your ENTIRE home profile. Start over completely. Drastic yes. But just like it is much easier to build a quality new home from scratch, rather than patchy renovations to an existing home, the same applies to a smart home when moving to a very different technology, in this case “Matter”. If you want to get into the Matter ecosystem, and I think any serious smart home enthusiast SHOULD, you have to understand that you are much more on your own right now than by sticking with a current proprietary ecosystem. The attempt to make Matter work with many different platforms, means the ability for product manufacturers, and Ecosystems - like Apple, Google, or Alexa support, to assist you is very limited, even when they want to. One MORE step. Do the same with your router. FACTORY RESET. It also plays a core essential role in the reliability of your smart home. If you have a cheap router you should really consider something higher end. When I took the deep dive, and started from scratch, I was able to set up all my Matter devices with ease. Another suggestion - just because matter claims to be able to support multiple home ecosystems out of the box, DON’T do that. You are asking for trouble, Pick 1 like HomeKit as I did, or Google Home, or Alexa, or SmartThings, or other platforms, and do EVERYTHING on that ONE platform. Also install the manufacturer specific apps for direct control of your devices, outside of any ecosystem. Reduce complexity, don’t embrace it. Yes, Matter is still quite frustrating, but most of the issues should be solvable through updated ecosystem software and product firmware. I still believe it will become THE standard, likely the ONLY standard in the future. So unless you need features not yet supported by Matter, I think Matter devices are worth the initial pain, to future proof your investment. Hope that helps !
