First six episodes from the second series of the popular British television drama, about the vets in practice in the rural town of Darrowby during the 1930s. In this volume, the vets hope to secure the annual Fortnum's hamper for their practice once more. Episodes are: 'Cats and Dogs'; 'Attendant Problems'; 'Fair Means and Fowl'; 'The Beauty of the Beast'; 'Judgement Day' and 'Faint Hearts'.

Superb and tasteful period British drama..
This much loved and very popular series graced British TV for many years. The everyday story, of a 'country veterinary surgeon', might sound dull - to the unthinking. The largely autobiographical tales, told in this series, had previously been the subject of a hugely popular series of books by 'James Herriot' - a pseudonym. The TV Series', here recorded, was brilliantly produced over many years of dedicated and 'on the spot' filming. Those who like a family orientated drama, those who find pleasure in animals, and those who like to delve deep back into British social history, will ALL find more than sufficient to be delighted with in this TV series set back in the 1930s, 40s and 50s.This is superb entertainment for most people, I suggest.

All creatures great and small DVD Series 2 vol 1
Had hoped it might be improved quality over the video tapes we have seen but it is not. However, there is no worse quality and is quite satisfactory to be able to enjoy this very watchable vet series.

A lovely trip down memory lane
The acting quality in this series is excellent, and we are enjoying series 2 as much as series 1. It is hard to believe they were filmed so long ago, as they are as watchable now as they were when they were first released. The episodes are 'Cats and Dogs', 'Attendant problems', 'Fair means Fowl', 'The beauty of the Beast', 'Judgement Day', 'Faint Hearts'. Curl up on the settee and enjoy some uncomplicated, superbly made TV, with beautiful scenery as well!

Herriot 2
This is one of the great series. - I have every video and the most important books about Herriot and the way the films bring Yorkshire alive (and Scotland in the earlier episodes) is magical. Totally to be recommended, it does a great job for Yorkshire, underling the social life, the mores of the times and the way of life, which was often very hard. The rugged scenery and weather are often at the forefront of the story. Brilliant.

Absolutely Charming!
A magical mix of characters; beautifully acted throughout. Even after all these years the series retains its warmth and the chemistry between Christopher Timothy and Carol Drinkwater is superb. A little bit of over acting by Seigfried which is a shame, but the series has definitely stood the test of time.
