Review: Worth all of the research I did - works great! - Very, very pleased with this item so far! I got this as a gift for my grandmother for Christmas this year, and so far she seems to really like it. : ) I knew for a long time that I wanted to get her an automatic soap dispenser, as she greatly values cleanliness. She can't use products with scents, so she buys her own soaps and such, so the fact that this dispenser allows you to put your own soap in was definitely one of its major winning features for me. Other than that, I just wanted something that worked. There was a lot to consider and even more to research. Looking over all of the different automatic soap dispensers in this general price range on desertcart was stressful, but I'm glad, as this product really paid off in the end... The right amount of soap comes out each time (not too much, not too little). The sensor isn't overly sensitive, nor is it the opposite - it's again, just right. And hopefully, if things continue to go well, it won't die or decide to drown itself in soap (some of the fates that other automatic soap dispensers seemed to ultimately meet). I'll be sure to keep tabs on this little guy via grandma, and if anything goes awry, I'll update my review as necessary. As it stands, so far so good. Again, very pleased. : ) Review: I Could Not Get It To Work - The first thing I found most frustrating is that you can’t tell if it’s on or off by just pressing the power button. The very first time I turned it on I did not notice if it blinked once or twice so I have no idea which was on … one blink or two. The unit I received blinks every few seconds and since there is nothing in the instruction sheet I assumed this was normal. It would be nice if the instructions were clear rather than just saying to turn it on. It would be nice if there was a FAQ from the manufacturer regarding troubleshooting problems. I could not get it to work ... maybe a defective unit ... who knows, but I am not wasting anymore time on it. I tried for three days to get it to work and it just wouldn’t and yes the batteries were in it correctly and were brand new. Sometimes I could wave my hand under it fifteen times and nothing would happen and other times I might get one dose of soap and that would be it. A few hours I would try again with no results … then the next hour I might get half a dose of soap to dispense. Also, when it did dispense on a few occasions I did not get a solid blue light as it was pumping out the soap as I had seen in a few video reviews. This was the most frustrating small appliance I have ever tried. UPDATE: I emailed the seller about the problems and this was their response: "Try to take the batteries out and reinstall them again, also can you please make sure that the soap you are using is not too dense!. Also make sure that there are no spot or smudges on the sensor glass. If the problem still persists then please contact desertcart (Preferably by Phone or email) and use my this email as a reference to the faulty unit and they will be able to arrange the replacement for you." So I think I will return this and buy the SimpleHuman dispenser that has a two year warranty because once the 30 return policy from desertcart is up it doesn't sound like this manufacturer is going to be too concerned.

dispenses soap well; plastic construction (not metal)
We have used a touchless soap dispenser purchased at a clearing house in our guest bathroom for years that is starting to wear out so I wanted to buy one to replace it. The model we have used in the past wasn't available anymore so after looking at various reviews I decided to give this one a try. This product arrives boxed and nicely protected from damage wrapped in bubble wrap. It has a stainless steel appearance but is actually made of plastic. The design is modern-looking, and the dispenser is actually a little smaller than I expected. It holds about half as much soap as our old dispenser and operates on 4 AAA batteries (not included). You need a small Phillips screwdriver to open the battery hatch. One of the first things I noticed is there is no gasket to keep the batteries from getting wet from moisture (our old dispenser had this feature). The biggest downside to this is you would not want to place this dispenser where standing water might gather (definitely not for the shower and probably not the best choice for the edge of the kitchen sink). The top hatch of the dispenser lifts off to easily fill the dispenser. There is a small window at the top of the dispenser which is really quite useless. The window needs to be at the bottom of the dispenser so one can tell at a glance when more soap is needed. They really should have given that a little more thought in design. There is a power button to turn the dispenser on/off on the back of the dispenser near the base. Once loaded with fresh batteries and turned on the dispenser works quite well. It has an indicator light that will flash when it needs new batteries. It has a slight delay before it dispenses soap, but once it dispenses it really shoots it out there. It sends out a stronger stream of soap than our older dispenser did, and you need to be ready for it. The instruction sheet with the dispenser recommends filling it with warm water to clean it our periodically. We never did that with our old dispenser which may be why it ultimately wore out (although it lasted for many years). Overall, I think this is a nice-looking touchless soap dispenser that works well. Its modernistic look may not be the best fit for some decors, but if you like its appearance it works well. I docked it a star only for the lack of a gasket to keep the batteries from getting wet which limits its utility in some areas. But it works very nicely for dispensing soap in the bathroom.

Great product, silver looks alright though.
One thing I hate, photo shopped pictures. This soap dispenser is great, I love it. The design is kinda funky but it still looks great. I chose the silver cause it actually looked SILVER in the picture. Yet when I got it, it just looks plastic-y. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a product that looks exactly as shown. But that matters only a little when the product is pretty darn good. Was worried it was going to dispense too much soap as some people said but it may be the soap in using that it dispenses the perfect amount. Sometimes I feel not even enough. I got my liquid soap at Costco, the great smelling one :p so all in all, great great great great soap dispenser, might buy another one for my kitchen.

Stopped working and started leaking after 10 months.
Initially it worked great, but after 10 months it started to dispense a very, very small amount of soap, although based on the motor sounds the battery was still good. I picked it up and found a puddle of soap underneath. It looked like all the soap it was supposed to be dispensing was coming out the bottom instead. I did attempt to repair it - I took it apart, and found the issue. The tube that connects the pump to the nozzle was partially disconnected. I cleaned everything up, reconnected the hose and secured it with some heavy duty tape (initially it looked to be secured with only hot glue), and reassembled, after everything dried. It now puts out 2-3 pumps when you activate it, so I was at least partially successful! The sensor is attached to a circuit board, and the circuit board is secured with two screws in a way that I don't think makes it repositionable, so I don't think I can fix it further. I think what may have caused the leak is not using the dispenser for a week while I was away. When I came back, the soap that came out was thick and looked slightly dried out, so it's possible that the hose popped off from additional pressure when it was trying to pump the overly thick soap. I believe filling it with a bit of water when it's empty and pumping some through every few months would probably stop this from happening.

Quirky, sadly don't recommend.
Sadly this turned out to be a disappointment. Have been using the very first touch free product that came out years ago by L*******. Absolutely have been pleased with it over the years, however soap refills are expensive and don't have much variety. The one in the bathroom finally stopped working so I order this as a replacement. It looks really cool and is a sleek classy look, most importantly the wife was happy with the look. Loved that fact that you can put your own soap in the dispenser so you have plenty of freedom. The problem I had is even with brand new batteries I was having a heck of a time getting it to work. 1, 2, 3,.....10 waves of the hand and it finally spit the soap out. Kind of shot it out fast and at a slight angle, not a slow straight down. After the soap was dispensed, it would have a small amount of drip for the next three seconds. Seems to be because it was brand new and now it has stopped doing it as I assume because it has had some buildup. I have had this for a month now and still having issues getting it to dispense the soap, have yet to get it to work on anything less than three swipes of the hand. I was able to improve it by moving to the kitchen instead of the bathroom where extra light would come in from a window and have an extra benefit of reflecting off the metal sink. Also had to put the dispenser on the edge of the sink at an angle. I could get past all the minor quirks if the sensor worked properly and reliably. For the cost of this, I could have purchased 4 of my original dispensers that I new I could count on.

Simply Awesome
This is a well designed soap dispenser that works perfectly for my family. It is stylish, easy to refill, somehow doesn't drip or require particular soap refills and operates with AA batteries that are always on hand. Some people have complained about the amount of soap that comes out. The amount dispensed is ideal for me, although people have different expectations so it would be nice if it were adjustable. Then again that would be just one more thing that could break down the road so maybe this simple system is best in the long run. We are looking forward to using this to teach our son how to wash his hands as he gets older and are about to order 2 more for our bathrooms. Highly Recommend <discount provided for evaluation and review

Save your money. No joke...
Just as the previous reviewers mentioned. Worked great for a few months, pumping 1 squirt at a time. Last night it started pumping three squirts at a time. Suddenly nothing. Replaced the batteries. Pressed the on/off switch. Checked the battery contacts. Totally deceased. Let it sit overnight. Tried it again in the morning. Totally lights out. Nada, zip...nothing. No wonder they're now selling for 50% off the regular price. Off into the trash it landed. Wouldn't recommend this unit. UPDATE: Like an idiot, I thought I'd give this product another chance. Ordered another at end of May. I thought maybe the issue was that it was on its own stand and sometimes got wet on the bottom. Well, this time...I put it on a small pedestal that would completely allow any water to drain through should any hit the unit. It had perfect ventilation, not any possible way for the unit to ever sit in any type of puddle of anything. No battery seepage. In a week ago, the thing stopped working. Changed the batteries, checked the sensor (the little blue light lit up) no soap pumping. This is an absolute piece of junk.

... 4 different products and this is by far the BEST one available
We tried 4 different products and this is by far the BEST one available. Always dispenses soap and never faults. It does give a bit more soap than necessary but I'd rather have a bit too much than not enough like all the other ones out there. Best product for your money!!
