Discovery Set

My 5 year old boy loves this! I can really see it teaching him systems thinking skills. The idea of the toy is that each different cube performs a different function. When you pair different cubes together, you make different sorts of robots. The instructions were very clear and simple, with pictures. It only took a couple minutes to get him going. And I loved that it came charged so he could get right to playing. The blocks themselves are sturdy and have very satisfying clicks when they attach together. He lit up as he figured out how to make it do new things. I could see him intuiting the logic of it all. We LOVE the Lego aspect. There’s a block with Lego studs on it that you can use to build your own legos off of. My son really enjoyed turning the blocks into monsters with this feature. After getting this toy, he’s been exploding with creative ideas for different “inventions” both related to this particular product, as well his other toys and craft materials. He’s always been a tinkerer and has always had an engineer’s mind, but I think it’s really kindling the fire in him. It’s great for anyone with an existing interest in this area, but also anyone who wants to spark a new passion, because it’s so simple and fun.

The Cubelets Discovery Set is a fantastic introduction to the world of robotics and STEM learning for young children. It Worked great for my 5 yo son, and the brightly colored, magnetic blocks are easy for small hands to snap together. This intuitive design allows him to focus on his creativity and experimentation. The set includes several Cubelets, each with a unique function: a Drive Cube for movement, a Light Cube for illumination, a Sound Cube for making noises, a Battery Cube for powering creations, etc.. Using the app on a tablet or smartphone, you can program simple sequences of actions for their robots, introducing them to basic coding concepts in a fun way. The Cubelets come alive with lights, sounds, and movement, making the learning process engaging and rewarding. Overall, the Cubelets Discovery Set is an excellent choice for introducing young kids to coding and robotics. It fosters creativity and critical thinking keeping them away from TV’s or social media.

Ok these were recommended to me for my kid from a coworker. I was a little hesitant to buy them because of the cost however after receiving the product and giving them to my son it is totally worth the cost . I did not have a lot of knowledge on what you can do with Robot blocks until I started doing research after they were recommended to me for my son. Come to find out these are actually priced pretty decently compared to other brands- some kits go for over 400-600 dollars! Long story short I gave them to my son and he did not put them down all weekend - literally . He had so much fun creating things and learned so much . He wanted to take them to school to show his friends! They are packaged well and a very neat concept. Worth every penny and beats my kid watching tv or playing video games on rainy days etc. Would definitely buy again (other sets) and recommend!

Here’s a little background on how I came to know about Cubelets. I am a middle school teacher at a STEM school and I have also worked the last 5 summers as a director of a summer camp for gifted and talented students. A few of my campers last summer were obsessed with Cubelets and really started a bit of a cult following amongst the other campers on their floor. I started to encounter Cubelets gatherings in the hallways and other common areas with groups of 10-13 year olds creating and collaborating on new designs with these little robots. Kids who were often hard to impress with other activities, and who didn’t always see the value in what others had to offer, found this engaging and fun to do on their own and with others. With the endorsement from these campers, I decided to purchase the Discovery Set to see what my 6th, 7th, and 8th graders could make of it during our Design Process STEM Block class. I wanted to be able to understand Cubelets better before bringing them in to my classroom and decided to play/practice at home with my purchase over the break. During this time, my 5 year old niece was over and could not keep her hands off of them. She and I spent hours putting new combinations of Cubelets together and I was so impressed with how intuitive and exciting the whole process was for her. She was able to manipulate the different personalities in some unexpected and clever ways that made her feel proud and totally blew me away. I am so eager to get these into my classroom and see what my students think of them! I’ve already seen Cubelets be an amazing outlet for creative and critical thinking in kids that are 5 years old up through 7th grade. I am confident that my middle school students will feel that same success with the basic programming functions that my niece was able to access so well. I believe they will continue to be challenged even more with the Discovery Set’s ability to pair with an app to expand the possibilities of each Cubelet. I can’t wait for break to wrap up so I can get these in the hands of my students!

Loved the easy function and ability to adapt. The battery life on the power cube is great and quick to recharge via mini USB. The discovery pack was a great foundation to build upon and add more cubes to the fun. My 5 year old daughter is over the moon to play with the cubes and integrate the phone ap. Typical- I enjoyed the cubes as much as she does. Plus- she is teaching me tricks on the directional adaptions on our play surface.

My 4yo daughter has a blast building these robotic blocks! It is so cool to see how excited and surprised she gets when she configures a new build and the blocks behaves in a different way. It’s like discovering something brand new with every build and keeps her busy for a long time. Big bonus for mama too! Highly recommend.
