Good for busy family dynamic
I like this book as it is small enough to grab on the go as well as short but effective engagement with good comprehension questions to help learn proper grammar and reading comprehension it’s short, sweet and effective for our busy family always on the go. We do quick car rides to school I have her read it and while waiting for car line to open we hangout and talk about the questions and our opinion on how we found the correct answer. It’s just long enough to help but not too long to bore her.

I really like these Skill Builders books!
I home school my daughter and she is a kid who really isn't into reading books for pleasure. So to get her to do some type of regular reading I decided to give the Skill Builder Reading Comp workbook a try. I love it! Yes, it is small, meaning it's not an 8 x 12 sized (normal) book. It's more like 9 by 6 inches, so it's compact. But I like it that way. Also, it's very simplified, meaning it's easy for her to read and finish quickly. The stories or assignments are typically 2 to 5 paragraphs long which is about all she cares to read at one time anyway. Then there are about 3 to 5 questions she needs to answer. So far she does the assignments without any problems and then I know she is doing some reading, thinking about what she has read and by answering the questions I know if she is understanding what she's read. I realize for some people this might not be "enough" for their child but it's meant as a supplement. It works great for what I need it for. I've even purchased their multiplication and division math workbook and am waiting for it to arrive.

Great Buy!
I purchased this for our 11 year old. She has struggle with reading and short attention span. After much research this one has been great for her development. We are pleased with her progress. It is challenging but it is the challenge she needs. She actually enjoys it.

Love, Love, Love
I bought this for my rising 6th grader to review along with the math book for grade 5. Because it is half the size of the 8 1/2 by 11 sheets, it seems like so much less to him and he is much less intimidated by doing "summer" academics. Seems like as many problems but just looks differently. Many genres including fables, myths, nonfiction, and fiction. A combination of skills from vocabulary to sequencing and fact/opinion. It has worked really well also because I am using a summer theme of around the world and I have been able to pull different pieces to match each continent because the topics are so varied. Would get it again in a heartbeat. Great great buy!

Useful
After a horrible teacher ridiculed my son for not understanding books 3 years above his grade level, we began homeschooling him. The teacher had destroyed his love of reading (he'd liked the books--he just didn't "get" them as a 4th grader the way a 7th grader would--she accused him of not reading them and it just killed all his enthusiasm.) We slowly got him reading again by giving him comics, and then allowing him to read whatever books he wanted without testing him on the books. But we were worried about his comprehension skills getting rusty. We got this book to separate reading for pleasure from "testing." He's gifted so we went one year ahead. These were interesting essays--I wish there would be some short stories as well. He's very good with facts but not emotional inference.
