Don't listen to the first review
I just received my String Thing and so far I am very impressed with it. Don't listen to the first reviewer. Someone who doesn't know the difference between dense and open string patterns really shouldn't be reviewing a tennis product. Rackets with a large head, like mine, typically have open strings that are further apart. People who use a smaller racket head usually have a dense string pattern. Like the second reviewer said, the String Thing does not perfectly straighten your strings, but it does work extremely well. I used to be adjusting my strings by hand in between every other point, but the String Thing does it quicker and better than I could do by hand.

great
I was getting annoyed with my other string so I bought Natural Gut which everyone says is the best. It's just expensive. Well it also moves on me a ton. So I bought this because it sounded cool and the other reviewers said it would work. It does work. I don't know why anyone would say it doesn't. It's a bit cheapily made but honestly it works fine and hasn't broken on me yet. So if you want to straighten your strings between games or every time on the switch then buy it. It works. If not, then don't buy it.

String Thing
Item works as advertised and will straighten strings to an acceptable pattern. However, to get the strings straighter, you need to provide lateral force toward the crooked string, and not just downward force.

Works well
Does not make the strings perfect, but very close. Have to push hard to get it to work. Would recommend it and also buy as a gift.

Good idea, poorly executed
I got this out of curiosity to see if it would help my racket and game. I'm a decent but casual player.I wasn't crazy about the looks of the thing being so ''toy like'' , but it seemed like a decent concept. After using it a few times, I have to echo the other reviews which mention the down sides. There is not enough weight to it to give the leverage you need to do good straightening. Fingers are still superior to this device. Also the plastic housing just seems pretty cheaply done. Sorry to have to give this feedback, but it is what it is, and I wanted to give shoppers some unbiased information.

Shoddy product, an embarrassment to use
I got this product for a tennis loving friend, and when I saw it in person all I could think of is it looks like a children's cheap toy. Made of cheap plastic. But that issue aside, the little wheel doesn't have enough weight to actually do what it's supposed to, straighten tennis racket strings. You have to apply a lot of pressure to make it work. Ideally something like this needs better ergonomics to be effective. It just looks so cheesy and mickey mouse to pull out on the tennis court too, and most players have at least a dab of pride!

Disappointed
As an avid tennis player I was very enthused when first ordered. This product is not what it's cracked up to be. It is misrepresented and makes promises it doesn't keep.
