Simplified Feng Shui that works
Feng Shui literally means "wind and water", and it is an ancient Chinese culture/ school (whatever you want to call it) that is followed to bring peace, balance and harmony to your life and home. Feng Shui is NEVER meant to substitute hard work, efforts, intelligence and honesty. It is supposed to supplement it. Most importantly, you need to HAVE FAITH, have RIGHT (GOOD) INTENTIONS, and do your due diligence (in following the book and keeping up with your real life efforts) before even opening this book. Without these three, there will be no results.Trying to summarize some key points here to give you an idea what to expect.1. Is it OVERLY SIMPLE? Yes. Does that mean it is "shallow"? NO!2. Does this book tell you about bringing in some talisman/ charm in your home to change your luck? NO. Does this help you create a harmonious, balanced living space? YES.3. Does this book suggests a lot of purchasing? Not a lot, some. It has many solutions/ alternatives for not having something specific.4. Does this work? YES. In our experience this book did work and in a matter of less than few months.Don't expect the book to turn your life around in matter of hours (some examples in there suggest it). Things WILL change, but not like a magic wand. I believe the intentions are to make you aware of what changes you need in your life and keeping you motivated and focused towards achieving those goals. As long as you stay on track with your efforts, this book will help you harness the universal energy (Chi) to fulfill your dreams.CAUTION: Please do not start changing things around (especially, DO NOT BUY STUFF as enhancements), until you fully understand the concept, the symbolism, the Yin-and-Yang (balance). It is simple, but there is a lot of it, and misinterpreting things is common. We first misidentified one of the guas and were perking it up all wrong. Eventually we did get it right and then it worked. You can start with the section you need utmost help with (money, love, family, etc.), but remember to create a balanced living space eventually, with all of the 9 sections balancing each other. Without that balance, things may not work as they should. We read and re-read the book and discovered how much we missed out when we first read and also how much did we misinterpret.ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Karen is funny, witty, and very relatable. She does bring Feng Shui to her readers as a fun, light read rather than taking a serious tone. Some don't like it, but the way I see is Feng Shui is complex, and the deeper you delve, the more there is to find, which only adds to confusion. This simplified version is much better to follow (and it works!). I personally like fun way of teaching, helping people remember well.Lastly, if you do not like to keep your home clean, stay away from this book. The cardinal rule of Feng Shui is to have a clean, clutter free house (getting rid of literal, figurative and emotional clutter). It will be a herculean task (depending upon the state of your home), but it's awesome at the end. You will be amazed how many of the things we have in our home that are 'dead energy' and are actually holding us back. Feng Shui is all about this cleanse!

A fun book that helped a lot
This book helped me to see the "Big Picture," or at least significant parts of it, regarding the home I live in, its location, and the arrangement of furnishings within it. There were some big issues that I simply didn't realize were there until I read this book. For instance, I have always felt uneasy when I even looked at houses that were below street level, and I realized with a shock that my present dwelling is below street level; not a whole lot, which is why I did not realize it, but that factor is still present. There are other, similar factors which I had not thought of in terms of feng shui, which I have also realized are present and have begun to attempt to correct. I found that there was a tremendous increase in my energy just in the first few days of working with this book. There is something I want to address about the fact that some people believe that feng shui is a dark practice that will take one away from God. When we are young, we are taught not to put water in a bucket that has a hole in it, because all the water will drain out. We are taught to use a secure, strong vessel to contain a liquid that we want to carry from one place to another, or to keep in one place. The fact that "chi" is invisible does not mean that it is not real. Our bodies, and our homes and locations are all vessels of chi, and no one really tells us, normally, how to conserve and contain that energy that is life-giving, restoring, and sustaining. I believe that it is helpful to know at least some of the ways to contain personal energy, home energy, and location energy. My view, which could always be wrong, of course, is that the Source of our life will lead us to greater life if we will allow it. I feel this book was a gift from that Infinite Source to me.There have been several shifts that have significantly lowered my anxiety since I read this book and used some of the suggestions. For instance, I took a rather drastic step of moving my sofa away from a window that my back was toward to a location that I didn't like as much, where my back could be to the wall. I feel SO much better with the new arrangement, even though I don't feel the new arrangement looks as nice. I have realized that I much prefer the new location for the sofa, though, particularly during bad weather. One principle of feng shui is that low-level negative emotions that are incubated for a long, long time sort of spread out and take over your life, creating similar situations that also bring uneasiness. Feeling uneasy because your back is to a west-facing window, the direction that most storms come from, and spending a good bit of your time in that position, could easily influence other parts of your life, in my view. I'm really glad reading the book nudged me to take the step of changing that situation.Similarly, creating situations in your life that generate positive emotions and energy should help to generate more positive situations.Five stars. Looking forward to brighter days.

So well written and easy to follow. Great, practical tips and just enough amount of humour throughout the book.

MOVE AND CLEAR CLUTTER with Feng Shui and down to earth practicality.
This book will point you in the right direction for moving your things or even clearing out altogether. Its about the practical use of Feng Shui and is easy to read and enjoyable. I love the idea of getting things right in the home for a good visual view and also for improving life generally. I notice that I do keep things for posterity and also love "bits" which can be a pain when it comes to dusting. The author of this book knows all about how we hold onto things for periods of time...for ever sometimes and never use them. She reminds us that we need to simplify our lives and also create space, light and air into our homes and into our own lives. I recommend it since she specifies each room of the house, and even deals with the outside space, like a garden, a shed or a garage. There are plenty of book available on the subject but some just touch the surface of Feng Shui. This is more detailed and gives you great tips on what to put in a certain geographical area or what not to put there. Also about keeping tidy and cleaning which is just common sense. Find out for yourself where your clutter is in the home and why it might be there. Very good reading.
