This book . . . .
I wish that someone would have written this book when I was a young Girl Scout, but alas no one did and we had to come up with our own service projects to do in the community. But this book is here to help those women and men that now have troops and don't have time to come up with projects for girls to do, its not that they are lazy its just that girls aren't allowed to use their brains for anything that would be worthwhile for the community, BUT still a good book to have in your troop box.

Used with 4th grade class
I teach 4th grade in the City of Chicago. This book served as a guide for a service learning project with the class. It is full of marvelous ideas for younger students and older (high school) students who might be struggling to find an idea. There are plenty of references and contacts, so that the learner can easily find more information.I would absolutely recommend this book for anyone who has ever thought about including service learning in their home, school, or personal lives!

I loved the WHY you should do it and the how ...
It is age appropriate. I think the ideas are really helpful. I loved the WHY you should do it and the how to section. I believe it is imperative we teach our kids to be good citizens. I believe it is never to early to pay it forward and volunteer. We are creating the leaders of the future and this book starts the process.

It's got a lot of good ideas for teenagers and young adults
I bought the book because I wanted ideas for cub scout projects, but a lot of the ideas are really too much for cub scouts. It's got a lot of good ideas for teenagers and young adults. It organized well, but I think the content appeals to an audience between 13-18 years of age.
