Fobus SW4 Standard Holster for Smith & Wesson K&L frame revolvers, Taurus 431, 65, 66, Right Hand Paddle

First, I have always had leather holsters in my life, except when I was around 10 years old using a toy gun. This was purchased with some reservation due to the fact that I don't like plastic holsters as they look cheap and they break, normally. I also own a S&W K Frame with a 1" shorter barrel. I needed a holster that would not be obvious and it needed to be light in weight. I called Fobus before I purchased and was told that it would be fine but the barrel would simply be 1" longer than on my S&W.I received it in a reasonable time and sure enough it looked like a plastic toy holster at first. After examining it, I appreciate that there was a good deal of thought that went into the design. I inserted the S&W and there was a distinct "snap" sound as the holster tends to grasp the trigger to keep it secured. I slipped the paddle just inside of my jeans until the two latches locked under my belt. OK, the S&W is indeed positioned with a slight forward cant, is it secured? Yes. Is it easily pulled out from the rear? No. How about the draw? Very nice! Very Smooth, however, it must be pulled straight up which was not really a problem.In a nutshell, plastic yes, but you get over that very quickly. IMO It is well designed, well built, very light, draws and re-holsters smoothly and your piece is secure. I think that most will approve of this one, especially at this price. It is a perfect fit for my S&W 357 and it meets my needs. It certainly has me re-thinking my thoughts about plastic holsters in general.From an old dog; Well Done Fobus!

I wanted a paddle holster for my S&W Model 69 4.25". This holster fits it perfectly. Snug, as expected, and just a quarter inch of barrel protrudes through the bottom of the holster. A four-ich 686 probably fits flush.

I have a Smith and Wesson 686 Plus chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special with a 4 inch barrel. For those not familiar, the plus denotes that the cylinder holds seven rounds, instead of the traditional six. Almost all S&W 686 holsters fit my plus model, though I have had a few plastic ones not work. I am happy to report that this Fobus model fits just fine. I have Fobus Standard Paddle holsters for several of my guns and I have never had any issue with them. I much prefer the standard paddle holster to the Evolution line of holsters. I don’t carry my 686 Plus much, so this holster is more for the range. For the price it does that job perfectly. I like using the paddle holsters at the range because I can easily and quickly switch holsters, depending on what gun I am shooting, without undoing my belt. With a proper sturdy belt, you can definitely feel comfortable carrying with this holster as well, if you are so inclined. I would highly recommend this holster to anyone.

Fobus makes great products and always has. This is the first time buying without trying. This particular item did not accommodate a Model 66 frame with a ported barrel. The sight block was too high and wide for the opening. It is a shame otherwise I would have given this a 5 star rating. Solid holster and best thing at this price

I bought this for my Taurus model 65.It fits like a glove.I'm a bigger guy and even with my gut, it conceals the firearm well.

FOBUS makes quality products, but I think they missed the mark on this one.Making a holster to fit a wide series of firearms can be misleading to the buyer.The firearm moves around in the holster quite a bit, I modified it so this issue doesn't happen.Although the firearm is "locked" into the holster, it will become dislodged with a bit of physical activity, normal wear, it will be fine, but it's not a tactical holster by any means.Overall the material is great, the molding is fine (for the intended purpose), it's just not what you would expect from FOBUS to try something like this.Since I modified mine, I will be keeping it, but potential purchasers need to be aware the fit will not be the same as a holster made for a specific firearm.

Light weight and reasonable price as well. Just right for my pistol.
