Hiroshima Fengyun F-24 Thick Brush No. 3

This is a largish medium sized brush. It holds its shape, and is very responsive, holds a good point. Excellent for Chinese bamboo painting. I have two of them.

Please note this brush is way bigger than it appears. The base is about half inch across and the bristles are nearly two inches long. (See pencil in photo for scale.) For the price, this brush holds its shape well and is easy to handle. It holds a lot of ink and I haven’t noticed any hairs coming loose which is typical of inexpensive brushes. Of the under $30 brushes I’ve tried, so far I like this one best for Kaisho style shodo.

This brush is excellent for calligraphy. It holds a tight point. The price is excellent as this is a large brush. I highly recommend it.

I received this brush without size and obviously used. Some hairs are bent as of it was forced back into the sleeve. The packaging seems to have been open and re-sealed.I don’t mind used items when they have been clearly labeled as such, but this brush was not. Given that the price is already doubled compared to how much it costs in Japan, I don’t think this was ok.
