Master Box Models "8th Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment" Model Building Kit - U.S. Civil War Series, 3 Horses and 3 Riders, Scale 1/35

This kit is extremely detailed. It is not for a beginning modeler. I am almost finished with all of the figures with two kits put together with modified poses in a diorama. To make a great looking model you have to fill and sand. There are some very brittle small parts. I have replaced all of the swords with my own metal versions. There are no directions in the kit, but we are not talking about a large number of pieces. A little knowledge of the period is helpful and the box pictures are self explanatory. You have to be creative with horses reins and some belts and straps. But, After all it is a kit. I would look forward to more from this company in this Historical Period.

Introducing my grandkids to the art of scale modeling. My granddaughter who is seven asked me for a set of horse models that we can build together. So, I ordered this model set with three horses and the military figures. She has helped Grandpa with scale models since she was four...basic stuff like working with larger parts - holding parts - banding - taping - large area painting. She did washing, drying, cutting out her parts, all of the sanding... I glued the parts together. Then she applied filler to the model and did a final sanding. Will paint next week.

I enjoyed this kit a lot. Built with strong good plastic and has great details for the horses and troopers alike.

This is an outstanding kit of a kind not seen in 35th scale. It was enjoyable to build, I gave it 4 stars because there really are no instructions with the kit. The photograph on the back of the box is all you get. Figuring out the reins, stirrups and other belts you need to add is on you. In addition, there were a couple parts on the sprue I never did find a place for. It presents well when done and for Civil War and cavalry fans it's a great project.

I love the kit and the way the figures are posed. The detail and casting looked very good. However, when this kit arrived at my door the box had been smashed in transit. Several parts were broken and will need repair. Bottom line: the kit appears to be very good, but this supplier’s packaging for shipment practices are in need of better quality control.

Overall not a bad kit,if you are an experience builder. For the horses , there is a need for putty ,filing and fitting pieces together with out seams . Small parts broken during shipment but fixable . As mention in another review, much of the tack needs be fabricated for complete effect. Some creative thinking needed to mount horses up right. All that being said, I am enjoying this build . Would recommend it for someone looking for something different. Building this as a diorama with the other Confederate kit.

Nice models, only problem is that they do not line up well. Have to use plastic putty to fill in seams in horses.
