Better than I'd expected
The blade is excellent, good proportions including distal taper and is well balanced. Feels good in the hand. The guard looks a little short to me, the made in china etched in the blade is a bit annoying, and the leather cord wrapping on the grip is an odd choice imo, but the hilt construction is solid and well peened. The scabard looks decent from a few feet, bit up close looks a bit cheep. Overall, much a much better sword than I'd expected for the price.

Misleading description, but sturdy sword that is amazing value for the money.
Firstly, the description claimed a 36" blade length, 11.25" handle and 1.75" blade width. What I received was actually a 35" blade, 10.25" handle, and 1.5" blade width. The guard's length is 8 5/8" for anyone curious (a little short for my tastes). Supposedly this is a prototype of the Ronin Katana (brand) Euro Model 7. I don't know anyone with the "official" RK version, so I cant verify any possible differences though I do have a friend very familiar with them and said this is definitely an RK blade due to it's sturdiness and lack of secondary bevel. The "CHINA" stamped on the blade near the guard makes it look cheap, and its gonna be annoying trying to remove that while not altering the blade polish much. While there IS distill taper, theres not much. This could be an advantage with thrusting and it feels like it would be really solid, especially with the Oakeshott type XVIIIb blade, but it does effect it's nimbleness, though not that it feels sluggish by any means. On the plus side, it's balanced great and it still handles well. The construction feels solid and very much punches above it's price point, surprisingly. The grip is also fairly comfortable, though I plan on re-wrapping at some point for aesthetic reasons. Scabbard is decent enough and the blade fits tightly inside with minimal rattling. I have a Hanwei that rattles more than this sword. It didn't pass the ye olde paper test, but id still be careful running my finger along the edge. Longswords weren't historically razor sharp anyway. The important part is that it does have an edge, which is much easier to hone over than if it were blunt. During some test cutting, this sword just glided through milk jugs like it was doing the cutting for me. Very impressed.Update 11-8-23: During some test cutting with milk jugs and tatami mats, I noticed the blade was bent slightly in 2 axis somewhere in the tang by the guard. The metal around that area must not have been properly heat treated to be so easily bent like that and I figured this must be a defect. The return process through Amazon was refreshingly easy and painless. Return was automatically approved and a replacement was quickly shipped to me at no extra cost, so long as I sent back the old one. I did receive the replacement 2 days later and the one I received had a blade 1cm longer and 1mm wider. Balance felt a tad more blade heavy as a result. The handle was also slightly twisted. This could be fixed with some sanding and I planned on re-wrapping it anyway. Quality control for this company seems minimal at best. Ill update again after I do some test cutting with this sword and HOPEFULLY it holds up, which is the most important part.

Excellent
This sword is excellent. It is extremely well made. To the point of a previous reviewer, this is 100% the prototype of a Ronin Katana model 7. If you do a bit of digging you will see the same thing. It comes extremely sharp out of the box, not with a dull edge they claim. The model number of the sword is by-2703 which if you look online you can find more reviews. But this is The RK model 7. Only difference is the scabbard. Very well balanced and very good quality. Definitely impressed and not at all disappointed.

Best budget sword on the market, period.
98% historically accurate German longsword. Sword is semi sharp, single bevel edge. Will definitely cut thru anything you need it to. Balanced properly, and absolutely perfectly tempered, you can bend the blade 90 degrees in a vice and it goes back to true. You can't really get better than this for the price (often can't get this quality for 3X the price). Note, the blade comes covered in protective wax, and unfortunately some remains in the scabbard, it'll get on the blade a few more times if you resheath it, but will disappear after a few wipes. As others have said, this IS the Ronin Katana European #7, just with a resin scabbard (not leather wrapped either) and isn't polished quite as well. You won't be disappointed!!

Beautiful piece, but slight problem
I was excited to order this blade and scabbard, but when I went to unsheathe the sword I found it tremendously difficult, actually impossible to remove the blade by hand. I had to place it in a vice and gently tap the cross-guard with a rubber mallet to remove the sword from the scabbard. Since then I haven’t been able to insert the sword into the sheathe completely and even then I am wary doing so. I suppose it’s all fine because I purchased a belt and frog to use in its stead. But I would like to be able to actually use the scabbard as it is very well put together on the outside.

Do it
Unbelievable for the money! Great heat treat, perfect geometry/inclusive bevel, takes a beating, keeps it’s edge and springs back true.

Surprisingly awesome
Beautiful, solidly-made, well-balanced longsword. I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. It's not flashy, but it doesn't have to be. Its elegance is understated and its menace is subtle. It's also quite a bit longer than I anticipated. Maybe I just didn't read the description carefully enough. Definitely a two-hander.Incidentally, I believe this is a rebranded Ronin Katana Model 7... possibly one of their prototype models, which does not have the three buckles on the sheath.
