Nice texture
Works great to add some texture to your smooth walls. Easy to add to paint

Covers all those imperfections
Bought an older home and struggled to match the texture on the walls. So I used half a box of this in a gallon of paint and it hid all those differences. It does seem to settle so I would recommend only mixing the paint you’ll use with a couple of days. I found that once it settles it didn’t mix back in very well. But, even with that, it works great with a bit of preparation and planning. It does make the walls very rough, so I would recommend using the texture on the first coat and then just paint the second coat to smooth out the roughness some.

Not my style
Purchased to use in 1 gal of paint in my daughter's room. The product itself is easy to mix. There's no room in the can for it, so you need a separate mixing set up. Def use a paint mixer. Makes it easier on you, but you can totally do it by hand. The paint becomes thick. If paint sits for a while in between coats, like next day as mine did, mix it again. I felt like the grains settled down. I used a thicker nap roller so not sure how a foam roller would perform. Paint was easy to apply and covered well. The texture rough. I did 2 coats. I had splatter that I don't normally have with plain paint, probably because of the longer nap and thicker consistency. I wasn't able to clear the room before painting so I was working around furniture. I would def cover the floors and any furniture that is close to where you're painting. My daughter loves it, but it's not my style or choice of texture.

Good coverage, but be careful during application and reduce coverage expectations
I purchased this product because I had walls that were already painted with a sand texture, and I had done some wall repair culminating in sanding some areas smooth. Therefore, i wanted this additive to use with the new paint so the walls would have a sand-like texture and not show the smooth repair areas. To that end, this product worked great. I added the 1 pound box to a gallon of paint, and it covered very well. No smooth spots. HOWEVER, here are two things to keep in mind when applying. First, the instructions say to mix this in a separate container because you won't have enough room in your one-gallon paint can -- this is very true. What the instructions didn't make clear is that adding this product to paint will noticeable REDUCE the coverage of your paint. I used MUCH more paint to cover the room I was painting than I would have painting a room of similar size with just paint (without additive). So when you calculate coverage, cut it in half (approximately) when using this additive. Second, when applying this with a roller (I used a 3/4" nap roller cover), make sure there is plenty of paint (with additive added) on the roller cover! Under normal circumstances, you roll some paint on the roller, apply it to the wall, and then apply a little pressure to squeeze paint out of the roller. DO NOT do that with this additive in the paint. Instead, apply paint to the roller cover, roll paint on the wall, and as soon as you start running even a little low on paint on the roller cover, reload. If you try to "squeeze" paint out of the roller cover with this additive, you will get big clumps of sandy additive on the wall, rather than even application. If you apply it with plenty of paint on the roller, the additive spreads out smoothly and you get nice, even coverage and a great sandy texture which is actually excellent at covering wall imperfections. SO: expect less coverage and make sure you keep plenty of paint on the roller cover, and you should have good results. Once I realized this, I found this to be an excellent additive that covered my walls just as I had expected.

Adequate Primer
I found the texture project worked well after figuring out the adequate amount of prime coverage. The key was to cover all my drywall repairs with primer, with two coats, as the texture just globbed up on the wall if not. Practice made perfect. I’d suggest that spare piece of drywall in the garage as a a practice wall.

Simple product for adding texture to paint
I often have to do wall patches or repairs in homes that have textured walls. At least for basic grit textured walls, this stuff is a blessing. You have to experiment until you get the right amount of grit or simply add coats until you get the texture you need. Simple to use and easy to store unused portion.
