Expensive but it works like a charm
Expensive but works. A lot of tools in my bag have picked up a magnetic charge. I tried to use one of those cheaper wiha magnetizer / demagnetizer but still had a magnetic charge. After "demagnetizing" with the wiha touched something else steel it would still stick. I ran my screwdrivers and other things through this euro tool demagnetizer and no more magnetic attraction. Only downside to this euro tool demagnetizer is it can only be used for short periods of time or it will overheat and stop working until it cools down.DUTY CYCLE (INTERMITTENT):The unit has superior field strength due to the relatively highamperage that it draws. The consequence is a fairly rapid heating ofthe field coil. It is recommended that a single duty cycle be limited to5 seconds on and 3 minutes off, or three 5 second cycles on and10 minutes off. This unit is wired with a thermal protector. If the above duty cyclesare not observed, the thermostat may open and the unit will notoperate until it has cooled sufficiently. This unit is not intended forcontinuous duty.

Simple demagnetizer for pocket watches
I got this for the purpose of demagnetizing pocket watches. I pull the whole watch through and follow the instructions and it seems to work just fine. I used a simple compass to check the magnetism of a watch that I am repairing and then if I notice any fluctuations in the needle I run the watch through the demagnetizer. This sucks up some power and heats up fast (instructions say somthing to the same effect) so this can usually do 2 - 3 passes in one sitting. The first day I had it, I ran 3 watches through for 5 second interval, waiting 5 minutes between runs as instructed and the unit shut down for about an hour (it has a thermal switch to keep it from being damaged). Might have better luck running 1 watch through for 5 seconds every 15 mins. Price seemed ok and for the most part it looks to be made like the old coil demagnetizers of the 50s were made so I am pleased.

Awesome easy to use works just as advertised.
Awesome product, nice clean simple design but then again an electric magnet is not so difficult to build. The lower rate report of the short intermittent cycle only from one of the buyer is reasonable. I demagnetized two tweezers and it is noticeably warm. Still, for someone handy and have a lot of tools, it would be simple enough to just install an air fitting (like in compressor style fitting, a male coupling) and hook up an air compressor source to help cool the tool.I use to do this when I needed to run electric routers at lower speed by lowering the operating voltage resulting in excessive heat...works like a charm but you'll need a decent compressor to make that work. This was bought for a surgical instrument manufacturer and can't afford to have magnetized tool, this works just perfect and the rate of use is low enough not an issue with overheating or anything. If you are doing about 5 tools, you wouldn't need to wait 3 minutes.

Worked just once
Worked once and actually demagnetized my automatic watch. Never worked after that first use. It powers on, but no longer produces a magnetic field. I thought I'd pay more for higher quality. My suggestion is buy the cheapest thing you can and don't expect great results. If you're looking for really good professional quality, Amazon is not the place.

May not be Strong enough
Had a very expensive watch sent from Hawaii that became magnetized. This device helped somewhat, but not enough, so watch had to be sent back to Hawaii where it was properly demagnetized. So not sure if this was unusual, but can't recommend the product because it did not work for me.

Demagnetizer-Dem-345.00
I collect and work on vintage mechanical wrist watches and some of my screw drivers and tweezers had gotten magnetized. How that happened, I haven't a clue, but a magnetized set of tweezers are useless. You can't turn those tiny parts loose. I had tried to buy several vintage demagnetizers on that famous auction site, but somebody else would always end up with them and most of the time it wasn't specified it they actually worked or not.So I did some web searching and this one is sold by several jeweler supply houses, but Amazon had the best price. I received it yesterday and it works fantastic. It has K & D on the housing. I don't know if that is Kendrick & Davis or not. They make some of the best watch tools available. The box it was in says "Made in the United States". I really like that.I highly recommend this demagnetizer for quality, price and function. The center is 3 1/4 X 1 5/8 inches, so it's plenty big to pass any watch through.

Works Well, Albeit Briefly
A demagnetizer is a necessary tool for anyone who does watch repair. This one produces a strong field ... quite a bit stronger, in my experience than the ones where you just place the tool or watch on top of the unit. The drawback is that this tool is made to be used for a short period (5 or 10 seconds), then left to sit for several minutes. That said, I have used it to demagnetize watches and tools and it works flawlessly.

Very powerful device (Updated)
This is a very powerful demagnetizer. I bought this to demagnetize my automatic Seiko 5 Sports watch which I accidently put on my laptop's palm rest. At the time I did not know this area on my laptop had a very high magnetic field until I checked it with a magnetometer app on my iPhone. The app is called LW Tesla Meter and it showed a reading of over 1000 which is VERY high. When a full size watch is put through this device you could feel the powerful magnetic field pulling on the watch. As mentioned in the instruction manual the device will get hot very quickly and is only designed for intermittent use but it actually works really well.Update: So I've been using this to degauss my pocket knives every time I get a new one.
