Sturdy, well made step stool but slippery surface
This is a well made, very sturdy step stool with a generous platform to rest both your feet on. However, take heed from the other reviews, it is slightly slippery depending on what is on your feet. Certain slippers and definitely socks could spell disaster. I’m 68 years old and was using a very small plastic step stool to get up onto my extra high bed and kept tripping on the stool. I doubt I’ll trip on this stool but the surface does need something to give you traction so you won’t slip off and have an injury. Otherwise, it’s really well crafted, is nice looking and holds my weight well at #150 without giving. I will be looking into getting some sort of traction strips like previous reviews stated as I noticed right away how smooth the surface is. I would recommend this stool with added traction strips for extra safety.***** I’ve now owned this step stool for over one year now and love it! I did add the TreadnannyIndoor and Outdoor Stair Treads 6” x 24” from Amazon and two of them fit perfectly on the surface. Very good adhesive and have stayed on for well over a year and through many hose washings to remove the dirt off the treads. The other issue that could be a problem are the poor quality anti slip stickers on the bottom of the feet, basically worthless and peeled off immediately. I purchased rubber, square caster cups large 3”x3” and that has worked beautifully to keep the stool from scooting on the rug or bare floors. So, with two additional purchases of the treads and rubber caster cups this stool is very strong with a large surface and I’ve never slipped or tripped on it since adding the treads to the surface.

Sturdy
I purchased the 4-inch step. This was purchased as a replacement for a similar step made of plastic. (the plastic one was rated for #300, and the step was used by the entire family, maximum weight person is #290) This plastic step lasted about 2 years before it started cracking (loudly) under daily use. It became apparent that catastrophic failure was imminent, and I purchased this one.I was concerned that it's stated #250 rating was insufficient. I was wrong. After a month of use I can report is has held up well with no signs of weakening. As well, the concrete floor below the step is slightly uneven, necessitating use of adhesive shims under the old plastic step. The stability was never perfect. This wooden step can be trimmed to adjust for the floor's un-even profile. I am very handy and the adjustment made the step absolutely rock solid in its placement. The adhesive gripper pad that is attached to each "foot" peeled off easily and was just as easily replaced with a drop of crazy glue as good measure. Of course if your floor surface is level, no adjustment is needed. It was perfect out of the box.Additional bonus #1: This step (unlike the older one) can be Swiffered underneath without having to pick it up or move it.Additional bonus #2: The finished surface is shiny and slightly slippery. The person with limited mobility in my family (the reason for purchase) was a little unsure in their footing, so I purchased 3M Safety-Walk Reflective Tread, 6-in by 24-in, 7768NA. (Available at Home Depot and Amazon). They are the absolute perfect size for this, did not trim at all. I purchased 2 of them. Placement is a little difficult - place masking tape as a guide for the center line of the step before you peel the backing, and remember the adhesive is VERY aggressive and does not lend itself to re-positioning. Remove the masking tape after the first one is placed and stick the second one using the first as guide. I included a photo of the step with the Safety-Walk treads in place. The result looks better than I expected, the family is pleased, and the reflective band at each side of the step is not a bad thing.

Worth it, classy solution for higher bed.
This is just as beautiful as it is sturdy, and I’m so glad to have finally found it here. It took a lot of lengthy searching to find one this nice, I’m guessing because of the price, it’s not among the first ones that come up in a search. But it’s a lot cheaper than a trip to the ER if you fall getting out of bed. I bought the 7” high one; my mattress top is higher than my waist. I especially appreciate that it has a large surface; no worry about having to aim for a small landing zone in the dark. That it is a lovely light maple is a big bonus—it matches my maple floor and the curvilinear lines give it a modern look that somehow works great with my eclectic furnishings. Its also lightweight enough that I can scoot it under the bed in the mornings, a necessity for a smaller bedroom, though id leave it out if I had room.I’d have preferred not to have the logo on the top surface, but that didn’t seem to be an option. Just glad it was available here.

sturdy and beautiful
I have a high mattress which sits on an adjustable base making it higher. Jumping onto my bed due to the height was problematic, I'm 5ft 7 female. I checked all types of bedside stools here. I am so happy with my choice for the 7 inch high one. It is sturdy wide with plenty of room for me to step up or exit my bed safely. The wood is beautiful too and strong! I showed it to my GSD who sleeps next to my bed as he looked puzzled as to what it was. The next morning he was up on it tapping my arm for me to get up! Ha! ha!Since I have reclaimed it as mine. Buy this, it's well made, sturdy, does not move on my wood floor & looks beautiful next to my bed. Packaged well for shipping too!

Very nice—but 22” NOT 24” as advertised
Sleek, modern, nice looking and sturdy. However, I chose it partially because the diagrams show it is 24” long, and it is not. It’s 22”. It also would be very nice if it had a slit in it for easy carrying like some have. That said, 4 stars for the benefits and good make. Mine also came with two “rough” strips I assume are to put on the top if needed to prevent slipping.

Excellent addition to our kitchen!
Although I realize that the Earthlight stepstools are usually used for massage clients, we know that they make a good sturdy product and bought this for our daughter to use at the counter - especially when she kneads dough! It is well-made, plenty wide enough for movement, and has grips on the legs for extra traction. We highly recommend it :)
