The Cambridge World History of Slavery: Volume 1, The Ancient Mediterranean World

I've read several Cambridge Histories and loved all of them. However, this isn't really a history of slavery but a series of essays about what the ancients wrote about slavery. Additionally many of essays cover the same ground. The book is really a history of what the ancients thought about slavery which is not the same thing as a history of slavery
