I'm In love!
The media could not be loaded. I finally decided to upgrade from my old Pioneer avh-x3800bhs. I've had that unit for a few years now with no issues. I felt it was time to upgrade to the capabilities of having GPS and other goodies like being able to mirror cast or play videos off an SD card, etc. The jump from that to this was a night and day difference. Ill always recommend Pioneer products.

Best system available!
Absolutely phenomenal piece of equipment!!!Cannot fault it in any way!I installed it with the back up camera from pioneer and connected it to my steering wheel controls using a module. A Sirius digital radio kit and parking brake override set finished the installation. There is no better set up!! Don’t hesitate - buy it!

Subaru Crosstrek 2017 Stereo Upgrade
The AVIC-W8600NEX was a major upgrade to my stock stereo (CM695UL) Clarion model PF-3678. The stock speakers’ sound quality has improved greatly (more powerful, crisp, clear). The integrated GPS/NAV system is accurate and informative. Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity is seamless.Wide array of options for AV inputs: HDMI, USB, AUX, RCA.Touch screen is responsive and does not require much pressure.User interface is very customizable.Stock Stereo Removal Tips: Watch video from “AutoHarnessHouse”. Use a flexible extension bit holder with universal joint to remove rear screws to avoid having to remove panel. Do not forget to release AC controls mechanical linkage temperature cord from lever.Brackets: I used Scosche SU2031B.I was unable to install stereo flush because it would interfere when opening face to insert DVD. Finding the right bracket setting was certainly a challenge and a headache.Harness: I bought harness pre-wired. Literally plug ‘n play, no surprises. Make sure you connect rear camera to brown connector. Ensure you follow wiring diagram provided by iDatalink. Part #:iDatalink Maestro RR Interface ModuleiDatalink HRN-HRR-SU2iDatalink ACC-HU-PIO1USB: I bought the USB connector from “AutoHarnessHouse”. Works perfectly. If you have a dual USB under your armrest, it will not work. You need to replace with Subaru Part#: 86257AL210.Antenna Connector: Metra 40-LX11 Antenna AdapterMicrophone: Stock microphone will not work. I fished the cable through the roof with a wire and then ran down passenger pillar. Takes patience but doable. Added noise insulating foam material around mic pocket.Important: Avoid pinching AC control cord. Do not jam harness down. Carefully distribute.

Did not put out clean signal, had noise when others did not
This unit has horrible noise coming from low level signal, no matter the grounding connection, RCA cables or amplifiers. Was not able to put out clean signal, the NAV didn’t work and was generally very underwhelming. Ended up returning as it’s way too expensive for what you get.

Nice, but terrible for navigation in the woods
The good news first-Wireless CarPlay and big screen are awesomeSounds great with speaker upgradesBad news, and reason for only 2 stars-No real GPS navigation! It relies on your phone via CarPlay , which relies on an Internet connection to plan a route. If you have no bars, you can’t route to a destination. If you set up the route before you leave, the map works and tracks your position, but if you stop it, it won’t start again. I had to mount an old Garmin next to it.Hey Pioneer, if you see this, it’s a $1200 unit! It should do nav as well as 7 year old Toyota. It doesn’t!

Good Unit
I’ve used Pioneer for years and replaced a 13 year old AVIC-X920BT. (Tech finally aged out). I saw a few reviews about the navigation issues. Updates and new maps are available at pioneer.naviextras.com… Also keep in mind the included GPS antenna needs to be connected for proper connectivity.

Work around for lack offline navigation
This is more of a response and helpful tip David. If you have issues with internet connections while navigating, you can download maps for offline navigation. I agree for the price the head unit should have stand alone gps functionality. This is just for helping those that are on the fence or have already purchased it!
