A high quality knife from a nostalgic brand.
I was first introduced to Schrade knifes when I was a teenager. Now 55 years old, Schrade is still my go-to brand. This knife exemplifies why. It is extremely well made, sharp out of the box, classic in its appearance, and relatively affordable. If used and cared for properly, it will serve you well for a lifetime, and if you so desire, it can also become a family heirloom.

It's bigger than it looks. (If I had a nickel for every time I had to tell someone that...)
The steel seemed impressive, and the handle was well crafted, although I am kind of a snob and would prefer natural wood or bone instead of the ersatz antler. But my edge came to me with a gigantic chip in it, so it was a serious disappointment, especially since it was a Christmas gift and we had to return it.It is a massive blade, so be ready for the additional safety considerations you'll have to make to account for how dangerous this freakishly huge blade will require. It's very sharp, and I suspect it would have held its edge well, so you have a foot long, thick steel blade with a scary sharp edge and if you're not very careful you'll hurt yourself or someone else.I am sure the tweaker in the edge was a manufacturing mistake, like someone dropped it and then looked around to see if anyone saw that before putting it back in the package. Kind of a sloppy thing to do, but not the end of the world. But it was too big a tweaker to easily polish out, so it went back to Amazon. (If you get one with a big piece of masking tape that says (CHIP IN THE EDGE) in Sharpie, that was me. We'll see if the warehouse is being diligent or sloppy.)Probably would have been a good value, but you probably don't need a knife this big. You're an American, so hey, get down, have whatever you like. But it's impractical. That can be fun, though, and for the money, this is a lot of good steel.Good luck!

An old fav of mine
Uncle Henry is one of my favs, the folder in my pocket is 30 yo, still goin strong. This is a nice blade for the money, no it won’t compete with $1k survival knives, made in a custom shop. But if you expectations are reasonable, I think you’ll like this knife. Sheath is cordura, and not bad.

Heavy and sharp
The weight and balance of the knife surprised me. I like this knife.

I wished it was sharper out of the box
The reason I bought this Uncle Henry knife was because I bought a cheaper one with a 8" blade and I tell you what that knife was the sharpest knife that I've ever bought. So naturally I thought this one would be as sharp but it wasn't not even close. The other one I only paid $19.99 and this one was almost double the price. If it wasn't for the fact I needed a bogger blade with a good point on it I would've bought the same one. I like that it is a high carbon blade so hopefully I can get it as sharp as the other one.

Love It
I was checking out the Bowie Knives and spotted this one. It is nearly the spitting image of John Johnston's (Jeramiah Johnson) knife in the Cody Museum in Wyoming. So I ordered it, and to my joy it's also fairly well made. There's a little space between the finger guard and the handle that's filled with epoxy, but its a minor cosmetic issue. It has a rugged, black Cordura (I think) sheath. Overall, I'm very happy. Folks might also check out the Condor Hudson Bay Camp Knife, which I like very much as well.
