I'm rating this product as a five out of five because the quality is up to par and serves its purpose without any hiccups. I bought it for rotations and it has come in handy every day. The whole set fits perfectly in my white coat pocket, but the weight can make your pocket stick out away from you. Get used to walking around with your hand on the top of the case. Without a doubt, you will be using the ophthalmoscope a lot more than the otoscope, but be warned that you will have to buy ear pieces on your own (or I guess take them from the rooms as you need them). The charger is built into the base, so no need to worry about buying a separate charger. I would definitely recommend this for any medical student. After all, its a tool you'll be using the rest of your life.

When I received this, it first appeared not to work at all: no light was emitted after fully charging the battery. The problem turned out to be that if you just push down the on-off button as per the instructions, that does not work. You need to also turn the dial in which the on-off button is embedded since it serves as a dimmer. You would think the instructions would explain this, but not a word. This item is not returnable to Amazon (I missed that part when I placed the order), and when you try to return it to the distributor, their instructions are to see the Amazon website for returns - rather frustrating experience.

I bought the product over a year ago, and the only drawback was that the otoscope head has never worked. I tried changing out the bulb, but that wasn't the issue. I neglected to do anything about it or to reach out until now, as I forgot (I mostly use the ophthalmoscope piece, which works fine) but now that I need to purchase a new otoscope piece I realized this is feedback I really need to leave, as I'm not sure they will do anything to fix it over a year later.

I absolutely love this diagnostic set. I've used it throughout my nursing career while I was doing hearing and vision screenings as a school nurse, and now I am taking it into my education to become a nurse practitioner. It's heavy duty, attractive, and works very well. I can't think of any Cons for this product, maybe once I'm in practice I will.

I just bought this and unfortunately only the ophthalmoscope part is working. The Otoscope part is NOT working at all! I payed $500 for something that should work and last! And now amazon page is said this item is not available for return! I contacted the seller. Waiting on an answer how to fix this problem. Otherwise, I will have to contact directly to WelchAllyn the factory. What a headache!

Bought this product in the Fall of 2013. Used it only a couple of times for medical school classes. The battery died on me mid-physical diagnosis practical in the spring after a full 24 hour charge.Tried to call Rymatt Wellness LLC for support. Battery life is so-so. I used it for about 4 examinations before it died and had to be recharged. But it recharges quickly and the light is bright once fully charged. Came with 4 reusable otoscope tips in different sizes which is handy. Otoscope zoom function is adjustable which helps sharper vision.
