I use this item a minimum if ten times a day. Cooking (gas stove and I can't be bothered replacing the ignitor. I have matches), to light my pipe or cigar and, in the last storm, even to see my way to the candle box!It is of beautiful quality. Heavy, well cast and solid. And, with strike anywhere matches, you just run them across the bottom of the dispenser and boom! Let there be light!My grandmother would be proud!

I like Victorian ironwork so this is nice.A bit rough but still desirable. I used fabric band aids to secure the lid, sharpie to blend.Myself I stocked with small box matches. I’ve long wanted one of these and I’m glad to have it. I feel the price is high for the quality tho.

To put matches in this almost requires that the cast iron holder is unmounted from the wall. The door that the box of matches fits into can't open all the way, so you have to partially smash the box the get it down into position. It sure is pretty but is not at all functional.
